The Concept

I loved my Alligator. I liked the concept of a ship that looked like an animal. I wanted to make
a fighter, and what better air animal then a dragon to portray a fighter?! So...

The Build

The Head
Remembering Zoids (a future project of mine), I wanted to put the pilot in the head. Because I only have (sadly) one good space windshield (I got it for Christmas when I was about 6), I have become accustomed to a standard cockpit. If you have the A-Wing, it looks shockingly similar to that. I designed it BEFORE I saw it, so I take credit. But, anyways,< I use if for everything, with slack for some minor changes, depending on the MOC. Sadly, it is a bit too boxy and bulky, so I redid it. It is now slenderer, thiner, and more sleek.

The Bomb Bay

Also, my Alligator is the 1st time I have EVER made a bomb bay. I was proud of it, but there were many draw backs. SO... I started with F-22 style doors, with a maximum of 2 long-ranged missiles. That was it. So, I decided to hallow out the middle, and make room for... more. I am very pleased.

The Wings

I wanted dragon wings. This is especially important, because I plan on making the Fell Beast from LOTR soon. I did NOT want to go with the Creator Dragon set wings. They are flimsy, and do not pose well at ALL! I decided to go with a SNOT method, using click hinge joints. These keep it nice and sturdy, while still being able to be nice and pose able.

So, after being bored with my pointless talking, lets move on to the actual MOC.

Head on. Notice the 2 lazer cannons in the nose, and the antenna on the side. This thing is all about info (like modern fighters). The antenna took me a good 2 hours before I was happy with it.

A side shot.

A close up of the side. I wanted it to look sleek, but not be stud less. I personally like studs.

The back. Notice on the top fin, there are thermal flairs to protect against heat-seeking missiles. Also, the engines have adjustable thrust vectors.

The thrust vectors are open in this shot.

The side doors open. Notice my Sig-Fig's katanas hanging there. I wanted to put them in the cockpit, but there was not enough room.

This is the belly. I had to take off the wing to get the next few shots.

The bottom doors open. This is about the 5th revision I did before I was happy with it.

The side doors open.

Everything.

The front landing gear closed, but with the cover off. This was one of the few things that just kinda worked for me, you know what I mean?

All folded down. This is my first attempt at landing gear, and I like it.

To show off the rear landing gear.

It's not as strong as I wanted it to be, but I did not have some pieces in the right color to do it right.

Showing off those long ranged missiles.

The middle can hold 6 bombs/mines. The pilot is able to chose which one. It also holds 2 large bombs.

If you are not planing on dogfighting, you can hold 4 medium sized bomb/mines.

Also, a more fighter friendly payload, you can carry a personal satellite (more on that later).

Underneath, fully loaded.

One HUGE bomb can go outside on the bottom, connected my a detachable hard point. Once dropped, the hard point is also dropped to smooth out the air flow.

They can also go under each wing.

2 of my BUF can fit under the tail. No explosives can be put there, in case the engines over heat and set it off.

2 more can fit on the spines on the back.

From the rear, all loaded up.

A close up of those BUF. I really like them.

Again, under the wing.

The Dragon, with all of it's optional payload. Not all of that fits in there at once, but... I forgot to mention earlier, those cylinders on the wings are 16 short ranged dog-fighting missiles.

The personal satellite. It can give you info about the area for miles around. Great when you do not know where things are in a fight.

The satellite unfolded.

The Dragon all folded up for storage.

From the front.

A close up of the cockpit, with my Sig-Fig in there.

Without him and the windshield, to take a better pic.

All opened up. Ready for the pilot to get in.

Mr. Macho Pilot in front of his masculine plane.

Him again, with his favorite katanas.

So, that's about it. I hope you enjoyed it. Please leave a review, and tell me what you think. Thanks, and happy MOCing!

I like this. It really stood out on the home pages. Nice work. Now if you don't mind, for your next project, I'd like to see a platypus... Later ~ Chris.

Looks like a really good start. I like the concept of it being a fighter/bomber. I really can't wait to see the finished product.
