UPA defence 'Thud' Quad gun. positioned in stategically placed areas around spaceports and outposts. it is controlled remotely. It has to be reloded manually however which is one of the major drawbacks of this defence weapon. it features 4 'thud' autocannons on a swivelling base. these ballistic weapons are ideal for destroying fighters, aircrafts and frigates in the planetary atmosphere. the autocannon fires at a rate of 1 shot per half a second so it has a very formidable reate of fire capable of shreding fighter formations.
the basic ammo box contains 30 rounds each but its can easily be modified and improved for larger clips.
it also features an ammo ejection system situated behind both gun. this is to stop blockage of spent ammo cartridges.
being based on such an old design it is ultra reliable and has often been known to fire continually in battle for up to 48 hours without any jams or internal brakage. this was eventually stoped as ammo shells piled up so high that reload teams could not reach the guns .
on the back it is equiped with an advanced tracking system that estimates the most likely possible route of hostile flyers and gives this info to the gunners. sort of like the smart gun off of aliens
the ammo ejection system ejecting spent shells and ammo boxes next to it. there are 2 rows, one for each gun
a shot of the back of the gun. notice the empty rounds lying on the floor. i got inspiration for this from many action and sci-fi movies, most notably the matrix revalotions where the gatekeeper mechs ar standing next to piles of dead sentinals and ammo cartridges
