A version of Tag where everyone will want to be It. Let's play!
About this creation
To start the game, I am It. Below will be one line to open a story, accompanied by a MOC to illustrate it. I will then tag someone, who must continue that story with an appropriate MOC. They then tag someone, who continues the story with a MOC of their own and tags someone else. And we're off and rolling.
Official MOCtag Rules
Tagging:
Being It is a voluntary position. No one is tagged against their will or without their knowledge. If this is to work you have to be sure that whoever you're tagging is going to play the game.
Whoever is It may only tag a builder he can contact somehow, one who is willing and able to take up the challenge. You email him, call him on the phone, or knock on his door and ask him if he'd like to be It after you. It is only after you have received confirmation that he will do it, that you publicly tag him in your post. PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRY UNTIL YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE YOU HAVE SOMEONE LINED UP TO GO AFTER YOU!
Once an entry is up, the next builder must post their installment within 14 days. If you finish your entry in 3 hours, that's great -- just make sure the next guy is ready before you post it. As a courtesy, you should give the next guy notice that you intend to post your entry on such-and-such a day or at such-and-such a time. This way he knows to look out for your entry and can get going on his as soon as possible.
You may not tag someone who was It less than seven MOCtag installments previous. For example, having built MOCtag #1, I would not be eligible to do MOCtag #7, but I would be eligible for MOCtag #8 or later. If I built #8 I would be ineligible again until #15.
By agreeing to be It, a builder enters into a legally binding contract to continue the story by the rules set forth on this page, and also find someone else willing to be It after him. Failure to fulfill this contract will result in the stiffest possible penalty: ridicule and abuse from your peers, and a lingering shame that will haunt you to your grave.
It shall be considered a serious breach of etiquette to give the person you are tagging any advance information about the content of your own contribution. What fun would that be? The challenge, and the fun, of knowing you're going to be It is in having to be prepared for anything.
The Writing:
The builder who is It will write at least one, but not more than four lines, to advance the story. (By popular demand, this rule has been officially struck down. Starting with MOCtag #26, builders may ramble on as longwindedly as they please. However, brown-nosers may attempt to curry favor by remaining within the old four-line limit if they so choose.) Your section of the story may be absolutely anything, as surreal a plot twist as you can invent, as long as it can plausibly be connected to what has gone before, and as long as the next guy can conceivably carry on from yours.
In theory, the story may go on forever. No one may write "The End" without my express written consent. In the event that people have lost interest and players are having trouble finding someone else to be It, contact me. I may allow another builder to kill it if he has a good ending in mind; more likely I will have him tag me and I will make the last entry myself. I started it, it's only fair I should get the opportunity to end it.
In addition to the caption of one to four lines longwinded story, the It builder may write a preface and/or afterword describing the build itself, the thought processes leading to it, what an impossible position your buddy who tagged you left you in, etc., but the MOC(s) and accompanying one to four line caption longwinded story must be able to stand on their own.
The Building:
The accompanying MOC(s) can be as small as you want or as big as you can manage, as long as it somehow illustrates the line(s). If you managed to pack enough into your maximum of four lines longwinded story that you can build more than one MOC to illustrate it, go for it. Similarly, if you've built a diorama and want multiple shots with characters in different positions or poses, that is fine. You may post as many pictures of the MOC(s) as you wish -- multiple angles, detail shots, construction info, etc.
The Format:
All entries must be titled in this format: MOCtag #2, MOCtag #3, MOCtag #4, etc. This way each new MOCtag installment will be immediately identifiable to interested parties following along, and also provide an instant record of exactly how long the madness has gone on.
All posts must provide certain links to other MOCtag entries. One link to the previous MOCtag in the chain (the one who tagged you), identifying the builder and the MOCtag number; one link to the homepage of the builder you're tagging (it is strongly encouraged that after that person posts his entry, the link be changed to go directly to that page); and one link to this page, identifying it as site of the official rules and beginning of the chain, in case newcomers to MOCpages see your entry, wonder what's going on, and want to start from the beginning. Hyperlinks are preferable for all links, but at the very least the URLs to copy and paste must be on the page. (The "learn some simple HTML" link on the page where you upload your MOC can teach you how to make hyperlinks if you don't know how.)
These rules may be tweaked, changed, or updated as necessary. I am the final authority on all MOCtag matters and my word is Law. In the event of my death or disappearance... I'll be gone, so I really won't care anymore, will I? Fight amongst yourselves to fill the power vacuum.
Questions? Join the MOCtag group here on MOCpages if you haven't already.
The approved format for posting a MOCtag entry follows:

Tag - Keith Goldman is It!
What will happen next? Your guess is as good as mine. It's out of my hands now...

Mr. Young, I just got the most brilliant idea ever. It would be like MOCtag, only about ten times more exciting. To start, I would make a lego character. Then, so would others. Then, anyone could make a series of MOCs based on the life/adventures of that character. Then, to make it better, characters/sigfigs could interact. The person/people used in the MOC that weren't "NPCs" or the MOCer's character would then be need to be contacted. Hmm... would you call it MOCRPG, or MOClife? Well, if and when I get mine posted, I'll tell you. It would be nice if you could respond please. Thank you. |

So this is where... well, I'd be redundant for saying that. But nice interpretation of a farm, the corn and barn especially! And good diversity with the chickens, it just goes to show ya that Rory literally isn't like the other chickens! :) |
