The Great Ball Contraption (GBC) is a concept invented by Team Hassenplug (Steve Hassenplug): set up some kind of standardized interface for LEGOŽ based modules to enable them to interact, in this case to pass a LEGO ball. Based on this standard, LEGOŽ builders distributed all over the world are able to build their particular modules to take part in this special kind of LEGO Oriented Architecture (LOA). There exists a set of these modules already, mainly in the United States. This page is to encourage people to build GBC modules!
The basket can contain more then 150 soccer balls.
I use a PF Electric Power Functions 9V Medium Motor 3 x 6 x 3 (part no: 58120cx1) for this GBC module because it is possible to control the module by a NXT (part no: 53788) using the Hitechnic IRlink.
Please watch my video of the Ball Pump module hosted at www.youtube.com.
Detail picture of the feeding device...
Please check my site http://www.techbricks.nl for more GBC modules and other technick and pneumatic LEGO and NXT related projects.
If you are interested to build GBC devices, please take a look at the following list with GBC links...
Thats really good! I still don't get the LOA thing, but it's still a cool functioning machine. Lol if you look at it the right way, it looks somewhat like a big, blocky, yellow llama. lol. Anyway great creation!
Wow, that's pretty cool. I'm not sure what it could be used for, but the mechanics behind it are very impressive. I like the feeding device(?) built into the basket that allows one ball to enter at a time.
