The Ludgonian Industrial Union is proud to present another small section of it's mega-city of Ludgonia. Today, we'll take a glimpse inside one of the city's most important areas, the Finance District. This section of the district is usually referred to as Stock Street, as it is home to the LIU 1000. The LIU 1000 is a state-run trading company that invests the LIU's money into one thousand companies and corporations across the universe.
The LIU 1000 is run out of the building featured to the left. Stock Street Train Station sits below. Note the white, steel bumpers running down the sidewalk. They were installed to deter future terror attacks. No more Warthogz are crashing through these walls.
The Finance District is located in an Elite Zone. These zones are reserved for elite citizens only. No tourists, bums, or Mastr Chefs allowed.
This building is one of the most important buildings in the LIU. Trillions of the LIU's dollars flow electronically through this building. There are, of course, back-ups, but the loss of this building could seriously cripple the LIU's financial status, at least for a few weeks.
The top sign is pretty self explanatory, this is the home of the LIU 1000. The bottom sign is a marquis that scrolls stock information relevant to LIU 1000. Octan(OCT) has fallen seven points today.
Two investors, employed by the LIU, compete daily to impress their boss, but the competition doesn't end there. The two race to their cars after work.
Bums aren't usually allowed in the Elite Zone, but Charles gets a break, at least for today. He was, after all, an investor for the LIU just a few hours ago. His hasty decision cost the LIU a great deal of money. To recoup their losses, Charles' personal belongings were seized. He was tossed to the street with nothing but the pirate shirt on his back.
"Forget the Red Light District, this place has twins!"
It's a high pressure job, and this employee heads to the roof for some air. Wait a minute...WE HAVE A JUMPER! Call the clean up crew.
Stock Street Train Station
A set of stairs descends from street level into the train station.
An overview of Stock Street Station.
Even though hovercars are readily available, many people choose to use high speed magnetic trains. This particular network is enclosed and only runs through the Financial District. It is reserved for elitist only.
The train is free of charge. The only stipulation is that you must conduct a eye scan prior to boarding. The retinal scanners can detect if you are elite or not. A Police Officer is summoned when a rider is found to be sub-elite.
The sidewalk removed for better viewing...
LIU 1000 - First Floor
Let's open the door and head inside.
The first floor of the LIU 1000 Building is a large lobby.
The centerpiece of the lobby is small fountain. The fountain used to have water, but it continually overflowed due to the high volume of coins being tossed in. The coins collected are donated to charity.....hahaha, yeah right. They go towards the LIU Governors' bar tab at Hot's.
The receptionist's desk...
Construction workers put a payphone in the lobby as a last minute joke. Everyone knows that all the Elite Citizens have cell phones. Unfortunately, Arthur forgot his cell today. He shamefully approaches the phone as the crowd in the lobby begins to snicker.
A small vendor stand sits in the lobby's corner. The stand sells candy, newspapers, and photographs of Keith Goldman.
LIU 1000 - Second Floor
The second floor is home to the actual LIU 1000. Here, stocks are bought and sold, the market is evaluated, and predictions are made.
The Order Room is to the far left. Four workers sit at their stations typing rapidly to keep up with incoming orders. They do the actual buying and selling of stocks. The investors behind them tell them what to do.
The investors, equipped with cell phones, continually get tips from other areas of the LIU 1000. They put the tips to use, "BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY!"
This room keeps tabs on the LIU 1000 as a whole. A line graph shows that the LIU's investments have steadily grown over the past few hours, even with the falling Octan stock.
If you look close, the two countdown meters on the line graph show that only 19 minutes remain in the trading day. A short fifteen minute break is given and the trading day starts again.
The far right room houses the Prediction Center. These super computers study all available information and make predictions about stock prices. Although they are not perfect, the computers have doubled the investor's success rate.
A analyst calls the investors down the hall with some bad news, the computer is predicting that Octan Stock will fall another 22 points.
"SELL SELL SELL SELL SELL SELL SELL!"
LIU 1000 - Third Floor
The third floor is devoted to studying the stocks on the LIU 1000.
Another small lobby. Who knows why they put one up here. I guess they couldn't think of anything else...
The next room is known as the Unknown Variable Room. Four analysts sit here and attempt to figure out why certain stocks are falling. They examine unknown or minute variables that baffle the super computer below.
"Octan stock is falling but it's not because of their prices. My meters show the Universal Average is still 3.09," says the man on the right.
"Yeah, but Brangelina just bought a house in some place called France. Our studies show that super-couples across the universe have inverse effect on fuel stocks," says his female counterpart.
"Ohh, I see."
The next room is a conference room. Investors study slides and map out a plan of attack.
The bar graph shows the rise and fall of a competing corporation's stock. Investors are planning a buyout of the corporation, but they want to buy it when it's stocks are the cheapest. You have to maximize profit.
LIU 1000 - Basement
Here's an overview of the LIU 1000's basement which is a well protected bunker.
After getting off the elevator, you come face to face with a steel gate. It's the first layer of protection. Only authorized personnel have keys to this gate.
After entering the gate, you come into this small room. Two guards conduct a serious of tests on any individual that enters the steel gate. They must insure that the person is supposed to be a key holder.
After the identity is confirmed, the guard enter a code and open the magnetically sealed steel wall. It opens.
After stepping through the gate, you come into a large room. On the far side of the room is a diamond plated glass wall. Its impenetrable. Why come all this way to see a glass wall? Well...
On the other side of the glass is a secure room that holds the LIU 1000's server. This small electronic box sends and receives billions of credits a day. Any damage to it could halt the LIU's investments, causing the loss of billions of dollars. Several back up servers are spread through out LIU space, but the loss of the main server could cripple investments for weeks.
Note: Pictures of the interior were taken several weeks prior to this being posted. So don't go and try to steal our inside tips. It should be known, the Ludgonian Industrial Union is privately owned and is not traded on the open market. So don't even think about buying us out.
As always, hilarious. I liked the part when you said, " No more Warthogz are crashing through these walls."
however, i did not like the part where you said master chief is not allowed. Remember, he saved the human race way before the LIU was established. Please show some respect... He is still out there.
Oh oh, I seem to have started a trend of anti LIU comments. Meh, guys.... ATTACK! PASTE! GOLDMAN! Eww, Goldman! Ahem, since the launch of Woodcorp (Buy Woodcorp), Woodcorp's (Buy Woodcorp) economy has been tied closely to that of the LIU, therefore (Buy Woodcorp) the attack must be called off, sorry guys, I know you were all ready to attack and.... Hey, who took the pin out of this one? - Callum
I agree callum, lets do it.now here is the plan.first we block all signals entering and leaving the building.second,my forces will bring a heli and drop off on the roof. we storm the planning room and take the rest of the floor.then we stuff paste down their mouths.mwu hahahahahah
Ok men, we're gonna take that place by storm! Alpha 28, you go in through the main entrance, and blow the basement door, and then we'll all come and back you up. Other men will do the same at the back up servers. It's perfect, the LIU will be so crippled, it will have to ally wth us! Then it's royalties and no taxes for the rest of our geneticly modified lives! Oh! Mr LIU govner! Ahem... We weren't... Oh, paste! Mmmm, paaaaste! *Drools* Goldman photos... Eww! But then there's paste... Ok, when's part two? This is fantastic, showing us inside the LIU, showing us amazing buildings, showing us weaknesses... ATTACK! - Callum
It's a good thing the main server is so well protected: with all those snooty elites running around the number of sub-elites just itching to blow up the place must be enormous. Nice touches abound as always and I especially like the subway!
Uhh...[faints,wakes up]holy @!#$3%3^$%64'?#!Great job dude. Hey, are you my ally now? Please accept.Respond to me ASAP.Great job anyways.Oh, shouldnt you have put more stuff in the bunker?just wonderin.
finally! I knew it was to come eventually, but this took FOREVER!(just three or four days, but I was really bored looking at your old(and tiny) MOCs,and it is about time we saw something new(and humongus).....
not that I really like all of them,I mean,I just y'know.......heh heh.....heh heh.......go warthogz!!
