The Ebon Hawk, starship from the Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic.
About this creation
The Ebon Hawk, from the game Knights of the Old Republic, is a fast, overpowered, smuggling ship whose owners seem to land in a lot of trouble... sound familiar? Think again. This baby has no bathroom, but two bunk rooms and a workshop for a swoop bike (hmmn... good thing it's a *fast* ship ;)
The interior is patterned after the ship, although the connecting corridors are somewhat altered. There is more detailing than what is immediately visible in the pictures, partly because of a design compromise; to get any kind of stability, and allow top down accessibility I had to build the top fairly thick.
I'm most pleased with how the engines turned out, along with the "Y" split on the top and bottom of the ship. The turret also worked out pretty well, imho --I didn't want it to be bulbous, but I did want something where the person could fit inside it.
I also created minifigs for each party member of the game, using sculpey for Mission Vao and Juhani. Mission I thought worked out ok... Juhani, well... there's always next time.

How come we never get to take *everybody* along to lay the smack down on some sith?
|

I'm betting that if the Millenium Falcon had these puppies installed, it'd have made the Kessel Run in *eleven* parsecs.
|

Front view of the Ebon Hawk. Yes, I know it looks like it mashed into a wall at low velocity, but I didn't come up with the idea. You want sleek looking? Check the rear view.

Canderous hanging out in the maintenance bay, ostensibly working on the PC's swoop bike. Or is he still moping because it's a lot more fun to choose a bunch of jedi as party members?

Carth and Bastilla hanging out in the bridge area. The PC gets a window seat too. Yaay!
|

pay no attention to the black triangles. please? They're just there so I could rotate the picture to a more sane angle. How come Juhani is always hanging out in the galley? Is this some kind of cat stereotyping? Anyway, the entry ramp is to the right of the galley. You can also see a bit of the control room in the top center

Even though there's no tile above it saying "Hyperdrive", that's what the blue thing in the top left corner is. Trust me. As a side note, the 2x2 cylinder in the lower right is part of what holds the "Y" assembly together when the top plates are attached.

I would think that a teenage Twi'lek would resent having to hang out in her room all the time... but maybe she's saving her bunk. The Ebon Hawk has six bunks, but seven crewmembers (and no bathroom, remember?) Who designed this thing, anyway?
|

My favorite picture of this MOC, probably because I am amazed at how the engines and spacer between them worked out

Zaalbar and T3 unloading cargo from the top of the Ebon Hawk. Seemed like a lot of dead space, so I turned it into a cargo hold. Why not?

Wow, this is an astonishing model, btw i built an ebon hawk also but chose to build it in smaller than minifig scale so it is able to be lifted and swooshed, zoomed, and such, whith one hand. and also, random quistion, how heavy is it and is it able to be lifted whith on hand?
Hi Logan, Thanks! If you've still got your model of the Ebon Hawk built, you should post some pictures and share with the rest of us! Being swooshable is definitely a good feature! Mine alas, was not -- because of size and stability, though it was fairly sturdy, all things considered. The Collectors Edition Millenium Falcon *is* swooshable (though with two hands), but it also doesn't have an interior if built according to instructions. |

Suriously, I just can't get over how awesome this is! Kind of off topic with the creation, but have you ever used the Darth Revan mod to make it look like your wearing his full robes and mask? I would love to, but I don't think it works with the X-box version which is what I have. |

...Could you please send me the instructions...
To Charlie & others asking for instructions; I'm really glad you enjoyed the MOC, but I have no instructions to share. I build from reference photos, occasional use of graph paper, and quite a bit of trial and error.
My best advice would be to use google images and the KOTOR games to get a sense of the shape and layout of the ship, and if you like, use elements of my Ebon Hawk design in your own creation. But don't settle for what I've built -- there are lots of ways it could be improved on.
All the best and keep building! - Brian |

Wow, this thing is huge. Your hawk is bigger than most peoples' star destroyer (that's what she said, on both counts). Anyway, this must have taken a lot of time and patience and dedication. Well worth being MOC of the day. And great detail. BTW, if you added a kitchen, you could have added a refresher (your minifigs will thank you for it). Keep it at six bunks, the teenage Twi'lek can bunk with the captain (that's what he said). |

Excellent work! I know of the ship but don't play KOTOR. However, it is interesting that medium-sized transport/freighter would have primary cannons located on the sides where it does. You would think it should have turrets instead, like the one on the dorsal side of the ship, since it is not a fighter and in terms of maneuverability (according to how it looks)it cannot compete. |

I have looked at this quite few times for inspiration and just realized I never reviewed it. It has been helpful when building mine (not done yet). Amazing greebling and engines. A few gripes are the slope from grey to red on the cockpit is blocky, there is an extra landing gear, the left dormitory has a few of the wrong colors, and the wind shield stops in between the sides and the front but some things are too hard to do with LEGO products. Your people aren't the best but I am rating the ship, not the figures. Despite these inaccuracies the good outweighs the bad. |

It's so BIG! Excepting the landing gear, this ship's exterior is almost perfect. The interior could accept some touchups, especially were the maintenance bay is concerned. Someday could you make a brown version, hard though that would be? Even if you gave me the pieces I couldn't top how well you made the Hawk. Post Script: You did a great job sculpting Mission's head. |
