LIU Refrigate
Keep your beer and Kaadu meat cold during transport...
About this creation
LIU Refrigate

The Ludgonian Industrial Union is proud to present the newest in refrigerated transportation, the LIU Refrigate. Keep your beer, Kaadu meat, and other perishables cold and fresh during transport, buy a fleet today!

The LIU operates several Super-Farms across its controlled space. These lush planets are devoted solely to producing crops. The only problem with that is the food often goes bad while in transport to the LIU homeworlds, like Ludgonia.

To combat the problem, the LIU developed a refrigerated cargo ship, known as the Refrigate. Due to popular demand, the LIU now offers the Refrigate to it's customers.

Using advanced cryogenic technology, in combination with standard refrigerator parts, the Refrigate's cargo deck maintains a constant temperature of 33°F. Any higher and your food would spoil, any lower, the food freezes and suffers freezer burn.

To save costs, most of the refrigeration is done by pumping chemicals to the exterior parts of the ship. The ice cold temperatures of space cool the liquid before it is pumped back inside.

When the Refrigate is near a star or a warmer portion of space, the pumping ceases and standard refrigeration techniques take over.

The Refrigate's engine array uses new cold fusion technology which allows great speeds, but does not create a lot of heat. If the engines heat up, the cargo deck will follow.

Small fins near the engine array give the Refrigate stability when entering the atmosphere, although with a ship this size, the ride is still a bit bumpy.

The front door opens revealing the cargo deck. It has plenty of square footage to transport tons of perishables.

Here, the cargo deck is almost full. A crew member loads a last bit of Kaadu meat to top it off.

The Refrigate's crew of three prepares for take off. The crew consists of two pilots and a load master.

The front computers handle navigation and steering.

The rear computers monitor the cargo deck's temperature and make minor adjustments to the cooling system.

The crew posing outside the Refrigate.

Note: You surely have noticed that the crew is wearing parkas. This is a mandatory safety precaution. The insulation between the cargo deck and cabin is known to fail, allowing chilled air to enter the cabin. Frostbite, hypothermia, and the sniffles are common.

Thanks Nate, I was using superscript, but I've changed it now. I didn't know that HTML code. I appreciate the help.

"Advanced cryogenic technology" "cold fusion" Great use of cold-themed technobabble. :) 1 question: why does the loadmaster have no seat?

A great new addition for the LIU. I can't tell you how many sleepless nights I've spent worrying about the LIU's ongoing battle with botulism. And now I can put mind mind at ease...what a relief! BTW, that's a sexy looking refrigerated transportation unit ya got there. All the boxyness any LIU ship could ask for, with just a touch of greeb...like grandma used to make.

Now one question, why would you have to refrigerate Kaddu, crops etc... If your in the vacuum of space? Which is reeeally cold! Other than that I really like the shape of this MOC, and the blue somehow compells me to look at it. Is this some new subliminal advertising?

Nice work on this one, the shape is a pretty big departure for you. Great use of SNOT on the nose, and I like the greebling. As usual, the concept is extremely creative. Some pipes or other detail inside the freezer bay would be nice.

Nice work on another great LIU ship! The solid blue color scheme looks great contrasted with that patch of greebling. By the way, is that a superscript O for the degree sign? You could type "°" (without the quotation marks), just so you know.

Very well-built looking ship, Emperor. Don't think I'll need any though. I think in your last MOC, you forgot to add some trans-red. Good day

Another winner from my favourite industrial union. Great snot work there, the backstory is real cool (sorry) and I love the old steering wheel in the greeble panel. BTW the chick in the green is HOT!

Im actually impressed. Ive always wanted to use those windshields like that... Nice greebles pits. two things bother me: which end is the door on? I couldn't tell from the pictures. And I was hoping to see a deck to deck ladder, but I guess that would get into the cargo space, and take up room. Nicely done.

Seems like a refirigerated transport would have a big box on the back... like the refrigerated trucks today on earth. but still, good use of SNOT, and from what i could see, you're doing well in greebling.
