Professor Beckett: “Ms. Rommel, Dr. Omaha, thank you both for joining me today. This business is strictly confidential and I trust both of you will keep this operation under tight wraps. Dr. Omaha, you will serve as a vital and crucial role in this endeavor of mine.”
Dr. Omaha: “I look forward to learning more.”
Ms. Rommel: “So why exactly am I here, professor?”
Professor Beckett: “I know your father couldn’t make it today, so you are the next best thing, right? *chuckle* You will be my little messenger. Please, when you see your father next time, tell him how thankful I am for funding my project. Without his help and money, this would be all for not. I wanted to have someone tell him personally instead of sending a letter through the post. A note would never express my unending gratitude toward him as a personal messenger would. Right?”
Ms. Rommel: “That’s it!?”
Professor Beckett: “I wanted you to see the progress of this, too. That way you can report back.
Now, I, along with my assistant Rusty, have been building a special vehicle. This machine could be capable of penetrating the Earth’s hardest layers of rock, allowing us to venture deep within the planet. Growing up as I child, I always wondered what stood underneath our feet. This mystery led me to research. At least thirty or more years of research, at that! This operation has been in the works for at least ten years. Three years ago, I sent a group of men out across Scandinavia to scope out the best place to start drilling in. Apparently, they found an odd volcano in eastern Iceland. They say this volcano’s mouth was almost completely hollowed out, and there were hundreds of narrow passage ways leading deeper and deeper into the Earth. While digging, they also found a very unique artifact: this crystal. The crystal here is purple, and glows. This evidence alone justifies and reinforces my thirty years of research attempting to prove there may in fact be something…or someone…beneath our feet. I have three ship tickets ready to go, scheduled for departure tomorrow at 9:00 am. One for myself, Dr. Omaha and Rusty. Please remove the tarp, Rusty."
Ms. Rommel: “Yeah, yeah, yeah, nice car thing, but what’s this you say about crystals!? How much are they worth!?”
Professor Beckett: “They will be priceless.”
Ms. Rommel: “Then you can count me in. Rusty will have to stay here, and if you think otherwise, I’ll have daddy cut the funds to your ‘Top-Secret’ project!”
Professor Beckett: “Sorry Rusty, you’ll have to stay here and hold down the fort. What about you, Dr. Omaha?”
Dr. Omaha: “Why me? I have no expertise in archeology.”
Professor Beckett: “I hate to talk so foolishly, but you will be a very important help if the worst should happen.”
Dr. Omaha: “I guess I have no choice but to help an old friend.”
Professor Beckett: “Then everything is all set. Tomorrow at 7:00 am, be here, and from there we will proceed to the port. There’s a big day ahead of us, be prepared…”
The Diorama: Very rough around the edges, as this MOC serves almost as a "soundstage" for the minifigures. The lights are called "lifelites" (www.lifelites.com). See a video of the different sequences below. The following chapters will all be lighted.
Can't wait for the next chapter. I might get me some of those lights. Very well implemented, and, as can be expected from you, an all-around solid MOC.
Right off the bat, gotta say how great the lighting is on this - terrific effect for sense of mood and atmosphere. The glowing crystal looks great! Your story telling does a good job of getting us going, too...I'll look forward to the next chapter!!
great, I love the story, nice light effects by the way, but I have my thougts about the digging vehicle (i reviewed it before) wouldn't the drivers get mud in their faces when they dig in the ground, it looks very good but without any kind of winshield or light I doubt they'll ever see something in the center of the Earth.. Anyway, that's just a side issue, good job. almost forgot, how do you put a youtube movie on your page ?
A nice little stage to start the show. That looks good. Your dialog could use some work, it's a bit abrupt and sparse, but it gets the job done. Lookin' forward to the rest of the story. Hope there's some giant monsters. garth
