A Chinese Dragon costume for a Chinatown block of buildings
About this creation
Look! It's a dragon! Gung hay fat choy!
My dragon isn't as color coordinated as I would like, but I think he turned out OK given the pieces and colors that I had to work with.
Another view of the dragon; I had to rebuild him several times to get him to look the way that I wanted.
Here he is in his parade through a side street of Chinatown, delighting locals and tourists alike along with other parade participants. I'm really pleased with the strings of Chinese paper lanterns that hang above the street!
Yeah, what Mark said... Nice one Jen (hope you don't mind "Jen") I really enjoy it when someone comes up with something that hasn't been seen before on mocpages. Not only is the concept original, but you took the time to put in background details like the lanterns. Really nice job all around. ~ Chris.
Really unique idea, and the execution's excellent. It would be neat to see an elongated version of this with hinged sections that would allow it to wind along like a serpent. BTW, I thought you had a good point regarding figs and just female representation in general with Lego (from your comment on Keith's report). Even though I like all of the male characters, additional female figs in smaller sets would be fantastic.
This is really fun looking. I have seen these guys up close and often they are not as nice as your version. Once we were in San Francisco's Chinatown and a dragon ate my friend. Which was too bad because he had the car keys. garth
