Otherwise known as Jewel Lake...
About this creation
My very first microcity is finally complete, after several rebuilds and destructions. For many weeks I was building this 64 studs long, but I realized I didn't have enough dark gray tiles for road pieces, even after ordering from Lego.com pick-a-brick. So I downsized to 32 studs long, and rebuilt it in an hour and a half. Or maybe it was longer than that...Time flies when you're destroying your pride and joy. WAAAAAAAAA!!!!
So yeah...here it is.
In the center of the city is the great Jewel Lake itself. Surrounded by the massive sandy beach, this lake is the home of eight jewel-shaped resorts, where the mayor often stays his summers. These resorts are very old, and are probably what gave the lake its name.
On either side is two small bays protruding into the sand where the public beaches are.
In other words, I play at resorts and you play at the noisy public beaches with whiny Halo kiddies.
Wait, did I say that out loud?
This neon green building is the second building of the Luseville Museum. In the picture above you can see the original buildings, which was built in the jewel shape in honor of the lake.
Another overall shot...
In this picture you can see the resorts and the museum really well...
This short but large building is simply known as The Factory, where all Luseville's THINGS are made.
The Ultra Dome is where all Luseville's sports are played. No golf though, golf is boring. Unless Tiger Woods is playing, THEN it's pretty exciting. I guess.
Random skyscraper...
Side view...
The MorningDew Casino, design used WITH permission from Shannon Young, the master of all microcities. Did he make up that word? MICROCITY. Spell check is killing me for typing it. =)
This is one of the first buildings I made. Blue regroo, dude...
I have no idea what this is. Maybe a newer resort?
Police Station of Luseville, their motto: "BAM you're dead! We got Phipson."
Oops, already showed you this one. There is no way I'm gonna delete it either, I spent such a long time uploading these silly pictures.
What? I didn't say anything about Home Depot.
Ah, another orange building. Sorta looks like an antique shop doesn't it? NOT!
The small town I live in is like, MADE out of antique shops for crying out loud. Who cares if it's been around since 1859!
Well, I guess I do...now please Shannon, don't steal my Cypress trees!
Actually I live a little out side of my hometown, cuz ya can't raise goats in a town can you?
Another picture of the resorts...
Side shot...
My camera blew up after this shot, it was so close to the Legos.
The road again...Oh look! My sister just served me ice cream. Isn't that nice? You'd think I'd be overweight living in the same house with her. Good thing I like sports. =)
More random pictures...While you're looking at these, I'll shoot you a few grill facts.
Radiator grills used on microcity: About 158
Grills left over: Around 104
Grills I wanted to use: 53 (They're on my Star Destroyer.)
Overall shot...
Overall shot...
So there it is, my microcity. Be on the lookout for additions, I'll make 'em! Someday I want to reach my target of 64 studs long...That'd be awesome.
By the way, I'm going to be out of town from the 23rd to the 27th of June. Or something like that, I don't know...Hey, at least I'm not going to camp all summer. =)

Thanks to the genius of Mr. Young, it seems we've got a new theme of sorts, and your creation reflects all of what I would consider the primary criteria: micro-scale, expandability, themed buildings, self-named...and oh, let's not forget...a healthy dose of grill tiles! Some nice creativy with the buildings, and I love the central lake there...a unique addition. Nicely Done, JD!! I'll look forward to the next installment! |

Beautiful city, but a little... I don't know, plain? I think you need a few more small buildings so it doesn't look like only studless on the ground. Oh and where your leaving, I think it might be on the 21-22 (theres a Brick convention in Wheeling, 19-22).
Good day |

That's really cool JD. Now all you have to do is make it like 43 times bigger and milk it for over a year like Shannon. (kidding of course. We all know Shannonia is the standard by which all microcities are judged). Maybe one day I'll get around to building Phipston Falls... maybe. ~ Chris. |
