LIU Ludgonia - Zoo Pt. 1
Come and see what you won't see in the wild at the LIU Zoo.
About this creation
LIU Ludgonia - Zoo Pt.1

The Ludgonian Industrial Union is proud to present another section of Ludgonia, the LIU Zoo. This massive zoo is at the heart of LIU conservation...well, ok fine, it's where we stuff the animals when we take over their planets.

That's right, the zoo is a holding area for animals displaced across the LIU galaxy. Most of the creatures seen here are extinct in the wild due to habitat loss, over hunting, and good ol' disease.

Billions of visitors and tourists visit the LIU Zoo every year. Now let's take a look at some of the various exhibits.

Southeast Section

This small section holds two exhibits.

This exhibit is home to the Logonis, a jungle dwelling herbivore.

Fun Fact #1: The Logonis has no ears or eyes. It senses minor vibrations through its large feet to locate trees, which it eats. The Logonis was killed in the wild due to over hunting. Its an easy catch as long as you stand still.

Gungans are not originally from the LIU galaxy, but hopefully (if our plans go right) they will be extinct in the wild soon enough. We thought we should at least keep two for the zoo.

"Yousa canta do this. Weeza a sentient beings!"
"Haha, hey look Jim, this one's trying to speak. How cute!"

Southwest Section

Here's the southwest section.

This exhibit holds three Nemans. Nemans are herd animals that once lived in the sulfuric based planet of Quato. Their lack of skin and thick bones allowed them to live on this inhospitable planet. The LIU did their best to recreate the planet, minus the rotten egg smell.

Fun Fact #2: The Neman male's are easily distinguished by their larger horns.
Fun Fact #3: The Nemans went extinct in the wild due to terraforming and atmosphere manipulation. Their bodies were to well adapted to one environment, and when it changed, they could not evolve fast enough to survive.

This exhibit holds the Kasertine Sea Monkey. This primate-like species adapted to live most of its life in the water. They occasionally visit rock faces like this for mating and sleeping...or a combination of both.

Fun Fact #4: The Kasertine Sea Monkey's rear legs disappeared after generations and generations of living in the water. Their front legs disappeared as well, but not because of evolution. Their front legs disappeared because they were so tasty. Yep, we ate them into extinction.

Northwest Section

Here's an overview of the Northwest Section.

This exhibit holds two Flightless Dragons. They once roamed the Plains of Gallia, but, due to their fierce disposition, they were purposely slaughtered to the point of extinction. We didn't like it (they could have been used as a weapon), but we couldn't have the early settlers eaten by some giant lizards.

Why are both animals climbing this wall?

Because Steve, in his infinite wisdom, ignored the NO EATING IN FRONT OF THE DRAGONS sign.

This exhibit holds two Crocigators. These lizards once lived in the swamplands of Szibad III.

Fun Fact #5: The swamps of Szibad III were pumped and dried out to make farmland. The Crocigators died out shortly after.

This exhibit holds the Injones Ants of the planet Trebor. Ants aren't usually fun to look at, but these meat eating ants are the size of you head. You can't pass up seeing this.

Fun Fact #6: A non-stick spray is placed on the wall to keep the ants from escaping.

This exhibit holds two species, the Gold Pigmy Deer and the Walking Tree. Both these species once lived on the planet Fubar. Unfortunately, both species are extinct in the wild.

Fun Fact #7: The Gold Pigmy Deer was hunted to extinction by over ambitions LIU hunters. They're called gold because of their color you idiots, not because they're made of gold!!
Fun Fact #8: The Walking Tree, if you couldn't tell by the name, can actually walk. The trees migrate each season to areas with more sunlight. They tried to run from our lumberjacks, but they're walking trees, not running trees.

Northeast Section

Here's an overview of the northeast section.

Fun Fact #9: The Hobo Penguins of the icy planet of Yot were driven to extinction by climate change. When we warmed up the planet to make a Resort World, the blubber packed birds simply sweat to death. Hey, its not our fault they packed on all that fat. Geez, ever hear of exercising?

Fun Fact #10: The high gravity of Uberduper 7 caused its creatures to evolve to be much shorter than other species. Here you see a miniature tree and horse. They both went extinct when the planet was destroyed. That one wasn't our fault. It was our bomb's fault.

One of the Zoo's largest exhibits holds the Dumbocerus, a massive, spiked land creature. The Dumbocerus has no eyes, but plenty of horns. The horns of this herbivore are used to fight for mates. Only one Dumbocerus can be placed in the exhibit because they are extremely territorial. We lost seven Dumboceruses to this guy here before we found this out.

This exhibit and a few others, have built in computers that gives visitors fun facts about the animals.

The last exhibit shown today, contains the large Ground Squirrel.

Fun Fact #11: The Ground Squirrel is a close relative to a sentient species found outside the LIU galaxy. Apparently, this other species has taken to colonizing underwater worlds. Yeah, it is strange.

Note: The LIU has DNA samples from all the animals we have at the zoo. If they happen to die or we are forced to kill them, we can always clone a new one. This DNA database was created after a zookeeper forgot to feed an entire section of the zoo and all the creatures perished.

Note 2: Even though this moc is denoted as Part 1, there are no immediate plans for a part 2. By marking this pt. 1, we are just reserving the right to revisit this section of Ludgonia sometime in the future.

Note 3:Oh yeah, this moc was inspired by Shannon Young's Glowing Gardens of Cyndir Fis.

it s a nice zoo, but, the gungans must be the main interest here! as a creator, i can appreciate the different environments done here, and the fun with it, still, i can t help but, imagine how good the liu could make on maintaining only one building, one concentrated on gungans, where the public could abuse them to death, from the comments, i can tell it s going to be a hit! good show ludgo!

Your Excellence, this review goes for all your LIU models: 1 billion out of 5. Very very funny, and the best attention to detail I've ever seen on MOCpages! Kinda reminds me of SimCity2000. Mr. Lego must be pleased too, what with all the white bricks you must be buying...

Hi Emperor:), I like your zoo a lot, as well as your general work. The details in your creations are always amazing, and seeing one of your MOCS just makes me want to see more each time you publish. Id love to see all of them in a huge Ludgonia layout! Thanks a lot for your kind review; as I just noted that some fool did the login about 40 times to rate down my C-2 (it had 5 smileys just two days ago:(:(:(), I feel a bit frustrated and your comment really cheered me up! Thanks again! Viele Gre aus Deutschland, Steffen

You know stuff like this shouldn't be aloud on MOCpages, it's dangerous! I mean....someone could crack a rib! Or choke on something! Or...or!! Ok so it's not that funny but still....(love all those clever puns!)

I hate to beat a dead horse (That's obviously the LIU zookeepers job) but the Gungan thing was FUNNY! Just be sure that one of them is not a female cause I hear they're like rabbits in that respect. keep 'em coming your Highness. ~ Chris.

A zoo is a great way for a corporation to make money off of species they've mostly wiped out and still have good PR. Bravo to those clever s.o.b.s in the LIU.

Great job Emp! But, that's an awful lot of nature for the LIU. Fortunately, the Union redeems it's reputation by the fact that the creatures are not only held captive for visitors idle viewing pleasure, but mistreated from time to time (i.e. starvation). I mean we can't have the LIU going all mother-earthy-tree-huggy on us now can we? By the way, let me know if there's anything I can do to help if you feel the urge to abuse the Gungans!

The LIU reminds me of Douglas Adams' writing, especially Sirius Cybernetics Corp.(of which the Complaints department now covers all the major landmasses of the three main planets in the Sirius system). This MOC is original, funny, and well-built.

Nothing like a trip to the ol' Animal Jail to really depress you... a prison where the inmates really are all innocent. Except, of course, the Gungans in this case. What they need is to be locked behind soundproof glass.

Hmm... Tough. I decided to give you a four, but it was a hard choice, because this is pretty awesome. The Logonis looks like something out of Alien Planet/Expedition, the tree is interesting, the Dumbocerus is good other than the name, and the squirrel and Gungans are funny. (You had better hope that there were no Gungan Sith Lords or something like that that you missed.) I really like the Nemans and their area. Hmm... Maybe I ought to build something along the lines of Shannon Young's "Alien Safari" idea. This has given me good ideas (I may try my own alien zoo), and the occasional humor is good. I noticed some of the ways you might have come up with the names. Good job. Keep it up. (Seriously, please do the Pt. 2!!!)
