Beautiful, stunning, deadly
About this creation

It's about time! I finally built a new MOC! I've emerged out of my creative slump with a new lease on posting creations (see homepage). All that aside though, I just bought the Firefly complete boxed set (which was incredible, btw), and I was inspired by Capt. Mal's revolver (I'm sure it's a Civil War Colt replica). Mine is actually combination of Mal's Civil War Colt and Jayne's LeMat. It took only three hours to build the initial frame, and another day refining the design. It doesn't shoot anything, it's merely for display, but I have it on my desk and it gets A LOT of attention. I hope you enjoy it as well!

A close up the wheel and barrel. I added the node below the barrel for that perfact touch of sci-fi-y-ness (speaking of, don't you just love the little power-up noise their guns make when cocked?).The revolver wheel also leans out, just like the real thing. I made the sights using as triangular 2X2 piece and an discontinued part that I found out holds antenna handles! It turned out great!

Here's a close up of the wheel. It used to have a small black rubberband so that it would automatically pop back in, but I soon realized that it was too unsightly and was prone to breaking.

Striking hammer. Purely asthetic.

The handle and trigger. I think the gun looks better without a trigger gaurd. I also love the way the handle came out, it adds to the overall look of the gun. The handle is also extremely sturdy, it can stand up to serious movement. I've even dropped it once and I was surprised to see that only the barrel broke!

The gun is a good foot long, as this picture shows. It was built using very little parts, so if anyone is inspired to make one, I urge you to go ahead and build one! I'd really like to see more Firefly things on MOCpages!
Thanks for looking!

Whaaaaa...
Inbox flooded with MOCpages emails, which I haven't received in over four years, I might add.
Still, it gave me a big 'ol smile seeing all you fine folks commenting on my things again.
Thanks as always, and keep on building. |
