Tow Truck (Land Rover Custom)
Working HOG steering, rear winch and underlift with locking mechanism.
About this creation

The chassis is based on 8846, which I originally planned to replicate until I discovered I didn't have the correct parts, so it's not 100% MOC! Steering controlled by warning light, winch and underlift by handles and levers on each side. (N.B: Now broken for parts)

(Click pictures to enlarge)

H.O.G steering by warning light.

This side operates the underlift. Other side operates the rear winch.

Underlift raised.

Underlift lowered.

Quoting TheLegoNoitAll . Nice work here! hmm, still getting comments 5 years later.
Woah - 5 years!! It'd be even longer than that if I hadn't left and then rejoined MOCpages too (and it'd have a few more 'likes' but who's counting!)

Quoting austin fretschel cool.....instructions please
Sorry, I don't make instructions. The chassis is similar to Lego's own 8846, for which instructions are available online (Peeron). This will give you a good start. For the rest the pictures should be OK if you print them big

Hi Ape :). I never had 8846 but I remember building a very similar model from a Lego ideas book. I much prefer your version - the colour and body work is much better. I hope to start my Landy soon. It was great meeting up the other day :). I really regret not buying the unimog, I am such an idiot.

Awesome! It looks much tougher and more complete than the original 8846. Nice colour scheme, too!

The build somehow reminds me of old Erector sets... maybe it's all those round-ended technic pieces. Cool functions!

Quoting elias perris nice.are you going to put doors on it?
I did have doors on it for a bit, but as it's quite a 'Technic-y' model I decided to take them off. This MOC has now been dismantled and the parts used on my much bigger Rat Rod, which in turn has been dismantled and is being made into something much bigger again..... : )
