Luseville: Expanding Northward
North! To the North we shall go, to the land of ice and frigid snow...
About this creation
"Unstoppable additions"
That is the phrase that Shannon Young used to describe the addiction of making a microcity. Once you start...that's it. You're stuck. But is that really true? Ummmm...Yes.

A while back I was looking at Shannonia and it struck me that my buildings were a lot larger than Shannon Young's. "Oh no!" I thought, "I need to make them smaller!" But then as I started to think more about it, I realized that this is Luseville. Not Shannonia. As much as I long to reach the standard that Shannon set, I am NOT going to sit and stare at pictures of Shannonia so I know how to build a microcity. Nope, instead I'm going to sit down in front of my Laygoes and let my own imagination pour into this MOC and create brand new building designs among many things. So with that said...Enjoy LUSEVILLE!!

Please don't get me wrong though, I still drool over Shannonia just because of it's sheer awesomeness.

Actually it was Shannon himself who got me thinking about making my own style after I ask him if I could use the 'Honeybee Casino' building design. He granted my request but mentioned that he would like to see my own designs. Ever since then I have been developing my own style. Thanks man!

For the past week (late July - early August) I have been out of state; looking at different things, new things, and everything had a completely different feel to it. For me as a writer that is awesome, but as a Lego builder that is just as great. Many of these building designs were inspired by towers and shops in Idaho, USA.

Starting with this picture, I took out the raised baseplate for better close-ups.

The new addition! That large, flat, grill-covered building you see to the right is - as suggested by Blade B - Luseville's massive indoor skateboarding park. I don't think that Blade said 'indoor skateboarding park' but this is micro and I don't think little jumps would be possible. =)

As you can see, I changed the color, name, and location of my 'MorningDew Casino'. It's new name is 'LavaDome Casino'. (Design used with permission from Shannon Young)

Overhead shot...

The black building strait ahead is my office: The town hall. As the mayor of Luseville, I work in the third story in a beautiful room with...you get my point. It's the mayor's office! What can you expect?
To the left of my office is the newly constructed Princedome: Home of the Luseville Sailors. To the right of the town hall is the green and white bank. I have to have my fingers in everything. Literally.

Random shot...

Another overhead shot...

Oh, and somewhere around 275 grill tiles were used in the making of this creation so far. I'm too lazy to go count them again to confirm that number. =)

The Happy House; otherwise known as The Funny Farm. This is the place I visited after counting the grills.

Yet another overhead shot...

WAY overhead shot...

Please note that I tell a lot of the history of Luseville in the original post. Make sure you check it out.

Awesome! I love the building with all the trans-neon orange grille tiles on it! I only have like 2 of those. Maybe I'll make a microcity one day, but likely not. Why? Let's just say when I tried one it wasn't exactly a sight for soar eyes. . .

You inspired me to take my eyes off Shannonia and go back to my own minicity. Not that we'll be burning down the Shannonian embassy and erecting the Luseville embassy in it's place but... Still looking great!

About Trolltag: Do we know when we will get tagged, because I might decide to join when I get more legos. Perhaps you have noticed that I keep making micro-scale; it's because I'm low on parts. In fact, I dont have the parts to make a Phongville if I wanted to. It annoys me because I know i can make something epic if I only had the parts. :-( Be sure check out my new moc when i post it. See ya later! ~Sho

Excellent job making it so detailed! It looks like the lake needs something like a boat, though. That's about all I have to say.

Right on, JD - some nice work on the expansion. Glad to hear your forging your own path with the city design, too. Let me know when the arts district is in, and I'll come for a visit!

Yes! I've just finished 'Woodville', my own micro city! In fact, once i've finished typing this, i'm going to upload it. Funny old world, innit? Oh, if there's a pool of saliva around Luseville, it's 'cause I was drooling over it. And Shannonia. Sorry guys. Oh, can I borrow your idea for the ultra dome for 'Woodville Part 2'? - Callum

Love the expansion! I know you're trying to do your own thing and trying to stay away from Shannonia but I'd LOVE to see a coast line. Maybe go with a "White cliffs of Dover" kind of thing to make it different from Shannon's. I just have one question though. You went out of state and CHOSE to go to Idaho? (That's what's known as a joke people. Idaho's fine) Keep em coming JD and keep it blocky! ~ Chris.

When I said skate park...I meant, you know a 'small' skate park but, THAT AIN'T SMALL! YOU TOTALLY MADE MY DAY, MATE, THANKS! Now I have to find a way to shrink myself to tiny proportions so I can go skate there...WELL DONE! And thanks for taking my suggestion.
