Lore: The Monarch is among the largest terrestrial vehicles fielded by the Paladin Ground Forces (PGF), and is one of the largest Ambulatory Bipeds (walkers) in production for any faction. These massive weapon platforms are not only designed to dominate the battlefield, but also to inspire fear and demoralize. The vehicles thick armor allows it to withstand numerous hits, and the reactive plating makes it almost impenetrable to explosive rockets and missiles. The operator is in direct control of all weapon systems and directional movement, while onboard computers control traction and optimize stable performance over unstable terrain, effecting speed and mobility. The heavy armament of this towering combat unit allow it to engage a large variety of targets, and all but the twin Halsa 38s can be fired while moving. The marksman cannons are utilized for pinpoint long range target elimination. These are useful for preemptive strikes, granting the Monarch the ability to attack targets from outside of their own range, and making this walker an excellent improvised artillery platform.
The mortar tubes can be loaded with a variety of charges including high explosive, fragmentation, napalm, thermite, and signal flares. These can also be re-loaded in the field as long as the ammunition is available and a platform or ladder exists to reach the tubes. On the other hand the magnetic rail cannon utilizes a complicated internal ammunition feed and can only be re-loaded with the use of specialized tools, requiring the walkers to return to well equiped command posts if they wish to continue using their 88mm cannon. The Monarch is a truly impressive beast to behold, and operators will use it's brute strength and size to their advantage, smashing through buildings and crushing smaller vehicles beneath them.
One Colonial soldier was quoted after an engagement with a Monarch "They move at a steady pace, and with such a huge stride, their on 'ya before 'ya know it, me and my boys hit it with four AA-9 sting missiles from our man-portables, the damn thing shrugged it off and started towards us. We leave these SOB's to the calvary and flyboys, theres tall two legged difference between bravery and suicide."
