The case is "skinned" with two cars from Speed Racer to give a bit of an exciting look.
About this creation
I had long wanted to make a computer case out of LEGO, but the biggest obstacle had always been money. This June, I did a thourough research and found that I could get the most basic stuff I needed for just under $350. I had to buy a special 50-pin to IDE card that fits behind the Slim DVD-burner, and use a PSU and GPU I had lying around. So the total cost is estimated $450. Which is very well in the segment of budget PCs in Norway.
However, the amount of bricks and plates needed was quite a lot more than what I had lying around. So I went on BrickLink and ordered some more. I think the total number of LEGO parts I used is 3000+
I first built a base in which I placed the MB and PSU before discovering that there was no way that design would be feasible. An even now that the design is complete, I have found a few new items that would make a future revision much better (hint: pci-e flex extender).
The long term goal of this project is producing pc cases for sale, and until that is realised, I have to come up with ways to maximise efficiency and make sure that there are no copyright issues with LEGO corp.
