Portunus Temple, Rome
This model is based on an actual building in Rome, it was build in the 2nd c. BC. Though originaly dedicated to a family God (Portunus) I decided because of the time in wich I was buiding the Temple to dedicate it to Mars.
About this creation
This temple is based on a real building from the Republican period in Rome.

Quoting Yosemite Daniel This is a beautiful model. I did not see this temple when I visited Rome. The temple restoration was completed in 2012. If you created this in LDD first, I would love it if you posted instructions. Why did you pick this particular Roman building to model? Was it the small scale?
Hello! Thanks, I don't use MOC-pages as much anymore, so I almost missed your nice remark! As a child, I always wanted to build a Roman temple, when I visited Rome in 2002 (long time ontgroen childhood already) and saw this building I knew it was the sort of building I could build without making it an overblown project :) So yes, it was the scale partly why it was picked, but also the age! Its build somewhere arround 150 BC. So it was already old when Augustus startend his rule! The temple sort of came in a dream and the most important parts where build in one morning. This thing is originaly from 2003, so no computer file on this one. Sorry! Other pictures can be found on my Flickr account (just search for Neverroads). What did you think of Rome? It's great Isn't it?! Thanks again :)

Decided to rebuild the Portunus Temple in Ldraw. Sofar, I managed well, details can be found on the MOC-pages, the door is difficult, but I managed to make something alike. With new colums f lego, it more looks like a real Roman Structure. Inside temple, red wall is guessing how it looks, but managed to do. Roof will be next challenge to make.

Wow, just amazing. Attention to detail is stunning? How long did it take you? P.S To anyone who gave this a score less then a 5, you should be ashamed. You obviously have no idea of talent.

This deserves much higher than a 3.5. It's one of the best buildings I've ever seen! I'd love to see it in person.

SPQR! This superb Roman temple is the best I have seen. Also getting praise from Keith of the Iron Reich is indeed a major compliment!
