Miniature Star Wars starfighters, built to scale relative to the LEGO-released Star Destroyer.
About this creation
I created these miniature Star Wars starfighters on the evening of December 25th, 2004 while at home for Christmas. My brother had just finished rebuilding his Star Destroyer (though it still took him longer than six hours) and was building his new Millenium Falcon when I set to work on these miniatures.
The objective was to create X-wings and TIE Fighters reasonably to scale with the LEGO Star Destroyer; and to mass produce them as squadrons. A Millenium Falcon that could attach to the back of the bridge would be a bonus. Sadly, the "mini building sets" released by LEGO were far too big (and they would have been difficult to mass produce). The following ships are the result of tinkering and several stages of quality control, comparing different designs:

Y-wing. Consists of one yellow 2x1 flat, one white 2x1 flat, one white 1x1 flat, one grey 2-1 converter, two eyelets, two 1x1 circle bricks and four 1x1 circle flats.
Many different designs were experimented with, including different colour schemes of white, yellow and grey, as well as different pieces (e.g. laser mounts instead of eyelets), before arriving at this model.
