This is the Twin Ion Engine Fighter. This Fighter was a prototype design of what came to later be known by the abreviated name of TIE Fighters. This Twin Ion Engine Fighter had a bulkier cockpit section to accomodate more engine and power canister room, since this version did not yet have the distinguishing solar panels of later TIE models. It is heavier armed than later versions, carrying 2 torpedo tubes-1 in each wing vertex-and 2 heavy RAM guns, between the forward probes, as well as the standard 2 lasers directly below the cockpit. This Fighter behaved amazingly well in military tests, yet it was ultimately passed over because of its relative expensiveness.

The wings on this baby make me hot. It's all smooth all the time. Looks sleek, like it could fly up and do damage before you knew what hit you. Nice! Cheers!
