Kingsbrook Tower
Let's see if I still remember how to do this...
About this creation
Should I? Can I? Do I dare? Yup, I'm back into the castle stuff!
I haven't posted or attempted to build a castle MOC in about six months, so here goes nothing.

-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

Even since it was made thirty years ago, Kingsbrook Tower has never been defeated or captured. Trolls, Phipson, Skeletons, Bull warriors, Kelso...everybody has tried and failed. It's secret? There's no door.

Driven by a great nobleman who was driven by his favorite quote, construction on a very unique tower started.

It was started in a willing gardener's humble home in the middle of nowhere.

They began a tunnel...

...and by traveling through that tunnel...

...soldiers are able to pop up from it, and appear in the tower itself. (This picture was taken by removing the top two layers of the tower)

Even though the enemy attacked while they built...

...the soldiers pushed through. The enemy simply could not know the entrance.

Finally! It was done. The great William the Teal/Orange, could stand next to his finished - and quite undefeatable - Kingsbrook Tower.

*ding* END OF HISTORY LESSON

Good grief! Forget that story; I'm done with the most expensive Lego project I've ever finished. It's not LegoLord's DawnMoore or DARKspawn's Crusader's Towerhouse, but it's all I wanted to spend for now. =)

In fact, I've already started on another "Big Project". I really have to slow down. But you know, us TFOLs are taking over the world! While all the AFOLs argue over which 70's band is better, (Guns 'n' Roses vs. Boston) we're gaining power. To bad there isn't more then seven of us...

Yeah that's right, I'm depressed in the Lego world right now because everybody is getting "too old" for Laygoes.

Sorry for the pause, I had to go do the moonwalk along with a classic Boston guitar solo. Now that I'm done with that, I'm gonna slouch over this computer and blow my brains out with bands like Skillet, Kutless, Three Doors Down, and Pillar. I love those guys...I mean their music. I meant their music.

I wanted to make the actual brook trans-dark blue and around the rock trans-clear, but unfortunately I didn't buy enough trans-dark blue off CrackLink so I was stuck with using solid blue.

These trees have the most detail out of anything in this SNOTed thing. Over and over again, guys like Will Thomas complain about my stuff not having enough detail. You wanna hear what I have to say? Ready? Here ya go: YOU'RE RIGHT.

The dio I'm working on right now will have tons of details. And everything after it.

Yeah, I didn't know light grey cheese existed either. At least not until I panicked about not having any.

Those ruins you see in this picture are from previous towers (with doors) that were defeated.

Maximize these next three pictures for better viewing.

Picture #1

Picture #2

Picture #3

In that almost worthless backpack, lies the reason for this tower: The Jewel of Riall. After these Mars Mission, Indiana Jones, and new Batman sets came out, that medium blue in there jewel is pretty much my only valuable Lego jewel I have.

So Chris, does this get me into the 2009 Mocies?

AAAHHHHHH!!!! Blinding flash!

Inside the tower, climbing ladders, are three soldiers that missed the spotlight. You can say hi to them some other time...

Well, I guess that just about wraps it up! My "big project" is finally done. Thanks for your time and feel free to comment!

Due to the date I posted this, (9-11-08) I would like to dedicate this MOC to all those who were injured or killed on 9-11, their families, and all the firefighters who served and gave their life for others.

WOW, JD THIS IS GREAT! I love those SNOT rocks! The 'midriff' section (Don'tcha love it!) of the tower does look a bit bland, but in your next castle MOC, you can always fix that! I pretty much have no idea what the heck you are talking about, music wise...I just listen to instrumental stuff...Bah, WELL DONE, MATE!

This is really great! The lack of landscaping detail is my only nitpick. The tower itself is very nice.

Forgot to mention before that I really like the way that the rock base, trees, photos & stream turned out. Very professional looking!! I don't mind the grass being undecorated as others have pointed out. I had many similar comments on the Helms Deep model. These larger builds take up so many pieces that by the end getting those last details is a bit overwhelming.

You give Kelso, AA, Legolord & even Phippy props, but no eggplants?? Dude. Thats wrong. I'm tempted to go with 4 stars!! I actually wrote a long commentary on this, but my internet got reset. Nevertheless, I was expecting Dawnmoore at least after the 2 months of talking it up. The underground and construction ideas played out well. The tower looks a bit plain (big grey wall syndrome) On a different subject, its about at 12 that most guys go into their dark ages. I was never a TFOL BTW. Indeed you are "special". Most guys don't get back into it until after they're married and don't care what other people think at that point. That deserves some recognition. So I'll give you some props.

I found the story about the tower very comical. I like the little bit of lanscapeing you did, but you need more. If you added more detail to the tower it might have saved you from buying more pieces. Hope to see your "Big Project" soon.

I think this comment was too long. Here's the other part about music. My favorite music from that early musical development period were the usual rockers from the 60's and early 70's. Beatles, early Rolling Stones, The Doors, Cream, Steppenwolf, guys like Todd Rundgren, and the amazing Eric Clapton, and bare-shirted Peter Frampton were gobbled up for a listen. But it was in 1977 that the Punk and New Wave movement from Britian, and later the US, really put a hold on me. Pistols, the Clash, Blondie, Ramones, Stranglers, all that great stuff just blew my mind. Now I listen to movie scores and don't explore new bands. Look forward to your next work. Don't forget more is not always better. Sometimes a nice lawn can be very pleasing. see ya. garth

I like that it's so sharp, and stark and steep. Nice bit of story. Like Shannon's new MOCtag, succinct. Some of the other writers around could take a look here and see how nice and simple the story is. Well focused. It's like Luke and the big trough. "Stay on target. Stay on target." Everybody does what they can. I like picture #3 the best. I find it very pleasing, especially the rows of studs. It's like you're standing in a real place. You have to squint a bit and use your imagination. see ya. garth

I'll stay out of the music argument since Shannon pointed out the chronological issues. Although I have to admit some of my favs are from the 90's as well as the last few years, even though the 80's was my decade. As for the build, nicely done! The rock base on that looks terrific. Your landscaping is coming along, too. For the size of the green base, I might have added a bit more foliage...or reduced the size of the base a little. Nevertheless, it's a great build, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for you.

All those bands FAIL EPICALLY WHEN COMPARED TO THE POLICE!!!!! Whew, had to get that out. 80's music all the way!!! Excellent tower by the way. There are many good reasons for why I don't build castle.... just small mocs. 1, money. 2, What would I build anyway? Professor Eggplant has got us all beat.

Let's not forget "Men At Work" and "Soft Cell" and "U2". "Hello hello! Hola Hola! I'm at a place called VERTIGO!" Time for my moonwalk while the solo comes in...Shannon, who are you to judge the way people wanna' dance, huh? Michael Jackson moves can fit with anything!

It's funny how every generation feels their music was the best. I agree of course and you guys left out Fleetwood Mac... but anyway. Thanks for telling us how to get in. Kelso and I have been planning a return asault and now that we know your secret, Huhahahaha! The jewel will be mine! Now Will (and why does everyone pick on me? Kelso's old too ya know.), if you guys take AFOL, what does that leave us GFOL? (that would be geriatric... never mind). Awesome tower JD. I'm lovin the details around the base of it. Looks like a 2009 Mocie nomination may be in your future. ~ Chris.

Corrections: Guns N Roses was from the 80's. And so was the moonwalk, which you might do to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean", but NEVER to a rockin' 70's guitar solo. *shakes head* Kids these days, to you anything before 1990 might as well be the 19th century. Now where did I put my monocle and spats?

Alright Will, I say that you cannot beat "Don't Look Back". ALTHOUGH, Journey's "Don't Stop believin'" is one he**uva classic. I'll leave it at this. The 80's ruled, and music will never be as great as it was then. Kappish?

First of all, Boston gets my vote any day. Second of all, this is excellent castle-y MOCing. The base of the tower with the "cheese" makes it all the more interesting. I'm hoping to get crackin' on a big project myself. Before that, I have to meet Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and play golf on the moon. Ya know, just to get 'em out of the way. ;)

I woulda had 1st review, but I looked at every pic and read every single word of the commentary. The tower is solid, the rocks around it are fantastic, and the creek is terrific. The three different sections have so much detail, if only you could fill in the gaps between. [I know, I know, lack of bush/tree pieces] I must also mention the picture quality, which is fantastic. Easily my favorite MOC from you, and by the way, me, you, Sho, and LL are the REAL [hear that Phippy?] AFOLs. (Adoloscent Fans of Lego) -]WILL[-

Nice work, the best feature here is the base of the tower - lovely. I think the tower could use a window or some other features to break up all that grey, but this is great - well done
