The Imperial Standard Wheeled Transport is a low cost and versatile vehicle that can be customized to perform a number of missions. The standard SWT consists of an eight wheeled drive platform with an elevated control room. All versions of the SWT have a staging area for a platoon of soldiers. The vehicle is lightly armored, but capable of withstanding small mine blasts and small arms fire. The troop transport version devotes the entire top of the drive platform to seating areas for Stromtroopers. The exit ramp at the rear is larger than on the standard version. The vehicle is usually used for moving troops through relatively secured areas. As such it is not armed and must rely on the armed troops aboard for protection. The SWT-T saw limited use during the Galactic Civil War and was popular with commanders on planets with strange gravity or magnetic fields which affected repulsorlift transports. It was also considered to be highly reliable.
