About this creation

You know what they say …. All good things must come to an end (a farewell to 9V trains).
Round 1 entry for the MocOlympics vs Matt Klein
Having seen the traumatic effect the end of the 9V train era has had on LEGO train fans, I decided to dedicate this entry in the MOC Olympics to those who fought so hard to save 9V trains.
Gathered in front of the station, at the end of the line, we see the solemn group waving a fond farewell to the last of the 9V trains. Some know that the 9V legacy will roll on (I know the Sterling trains will roll until the end of time due to the drawer full of train motors we've acquired), some have decided to migrate to the new trains, and some...well, some just can't let it go. One shining example is the young chap running after the train.
We see Minifigs from all walks of life (and eras) have come out for this goodbye: the train robbers, the cowboys, the commuters, the upper echelon of society. There are also a few cameo appearances I’d like to point out such as Dagny Taggart (Atlas Shrugged) and, Kenny Rogers and The Gambler (please tell me you picked up on the metaphor here).

So, as the "Save 9V Trains" billboard comes down, and the conductor waves as the caboose fades out of sight, we hear a small voice saying "All good things must come to an end..."

i wanted a lego train all my youth, i did nt make it for 9v, i had to go the 'new' way, it works fine to me, although i m far from an expert! but, when i see all the wirings, i wonder about the 9v guys...how did they manage all these wires? also, getting the old tracks now must be quite a quest! guess i ll see along the way! great post stacy!

Well, Round Two brings me! I'm sure this will be a great round; it feels wonderful to have been paired with two great builders throughout the MocOlympics. I've never built a cyborg racer before...let's see what your music taste is! If we need to chat through e-mail at any point, just respond to this comment. Thanks! Yours brickly, Nick |

Thank you all for the comments and the ratings! This was my first attempt at anything train related (other than ballasting track) and I'm pretty happy with my little red caboose. Can't wait to see what Round 2 brings :) |

An excellent and slightly touching, MOC. I think it's the kid who doesn't want to let go that gives this one soul, because it sort of establishes a connection to the world's lego-train fans.
But we all know that as long the motor-box for the 9V trains is capable of picking up power and transfer it through it's connector, there's a 9V-train, motor in the box or not. ;) |

Stacy, I really love the way you've captured the saying in a very meaningful way to a lot of us LEGO fans. Very clever and well done! Hi-five to the BrickChick! Keep It SNOTty Sister! |

Wow Stacy, this looks great. A creative choice for your theme, tons of “LEGO” charm and…and… Oh, who am I kidding. You and Dave are the only other AFOLs in Wisconsin besides me. Of course I am going to vote for you! ;-) (That's a joke, people...)

Alex, she mentioned the category at the beginning of the post. You might want to go back and read it again. Also, the deadline is 11:59 pm EST on September 20th...which is tonight...so she's all good. I checked with Phipson on this yesterday. Cheers! |

First to Alex. Dave's right. We have until 11:59 eastern time tonight. Now then, Stacy, This is AWESOME! Matt had a great idea for his saying but this entry really pulls the emotional strings. I'm not even a "train guy" and I loved it. Also, your saying is one that nearly all of us can relate to in some way. As far a build, I'd have to give you the edge over Matt. His was good of course but yours... well you know. Great job on this one. ~ Chris. |
