About this creation
Category: Cyborg Racers - "Calling All Skeletons"
First and foremost this is completely out of my realm of building...that said, I’m pretty excited about how it turned out. The good news is my worthy competitor, El Nickre, is in the same situation with this being his first venture into building Cyborg Racers. Enough with that, on with the story…
While out cruising one day our hero encounters a freak meteor shower and crashes in a remote cyber jungle where a witch doctor finds his mangled space craft and salvages what is left of his body. The witch doctor helps him to become whole again, though not entirely human… The good news, he has a wicked new racer. The bad news is, cosmetic surgery isn’t something witch doctors specialize in, so the result is less than aesthetically pleasing (for those with weak stomachs, you may want to advert your eyes).
How did this racer come to be you ask? Through a bizarre ancient ritual the witch doctor summoned the skeletons of past racers and from the bones he created this cyborg racer. The only thing that our hero remembers is a voice singing over and over again "There's a party in my closet calling all skeletons. All Skeletons....." and a little "Ooh eeh ooh ahah ting tang wallawalla bingbang" (I said it was bizarre, didn’t I?).
Since that fateful day our hero has made quite a name for himself in the racing circuit. Now, as he passes other racers he leaves behind a wake of fear, and a few rib bones, and he sings "There's a party in my closet calling all skeletons. All Skeletons....."
If there is anyone who questions the validity of my song title, or is curious about their other songs, the band is Alkaline Trio, the song is off their latest album "Agony & Irony". Enjoy!
I wanted to thank everyone for their compliments on this Moc - I've been unable to get online (traveling in Germany for work). But I am incredibly excited to move on - thanks!!
I gotta agree with everyone else that the ribcage effect was just AWESOME! Everyone is really putting out some amazing work here. Congrats on moving to round three! I hope I don't have to go up against you in future rounds... Keep it Blocky ~ Chris.
I decided to wait to post my comment on this one until the judges did their thing since I'm probably biased. All I can say is that when I saw this MOC, I was floored. Stacy could always build but she has just stepped it up to a whole new level lately. The concept of this racer was what really drew me in and the song just rocks. I love the creepiness and design of the "rib cage". Nice work Stacy. You're creepy and hot...a great combination. Love ya hun!
On Wisconsin, On Wisconsin…;-D Not that it’s necessary at this point, but you’ve got my vote as well. So do I sense a husband and wife no-holds-barred throwdown in the making? Time will tell…but you’d better place some cracklink orders now…just in case.
Though the pressure was on, you have me beat; congrats to you, this was a treat; this was a tough one, the judges say; I hope that your fortune will keep! This was truly an astounding sliver of art, and I figured it deserved a limerick in it's honor. Congratulations Stacy, you're moving on! I have to say, I am honored to have been paired with an FFOL, and beaten by her as well! I wish you good fortune and success in the future MocOlympics rounds! Thanks. ~Nick
This was one of the closest match-ups yet, but I'm giving you my vote as well. You both went with a scary/creepy racer which made it even harder to decide, but in the end, I really loved your pod encased in bones. Welcome to Round 3.
I usually write seperate comments for each entry, but this time it'll be the same for both competitors. So, to both of you...FANTASTIC ENTRIES!!! You both followed the rules, came up with great back stories (and songs!). Both creations were really unique and really well executed. Just top notch work from both of you. BUT...I've got to make a descision here...and I've decided to go with Stacy. It came down to simply that immediate reaction when first looking at the MOC's. Nick's took me a little longer to figure out and to get into (but boy, once I did it was great!). So now I leave it up to our other esteemed judges to determine the final winner. Usually it's good luck to the contestents...this time it's good luck to the judges!!!!
This is the first contest where I'm absolutely at a loss to predict the winner -- both entries are amazing. You took a simple shape and used the skeleton pieces to transform it into an incredibly complex, detailed design. Awesome work.
Wow! you chicks really CAN build!! ;D Oh man that is cool. Fantastic design, especially using the skull eyes as engine nozzles, the figure is rad and overall just excellent. Man, I'm glad I'm not judging this one. Well done!
Nice one! I love the . . . well, everything! The skeletons everywhere are creepin' me out! Excellent work here, Stacy. Let's see what the judges think! ~Nick
