The Rusty Ferret - WIP
Work In Progress: A variation from a Star Wars Expanded Universe concept drawing
About this creation
The Rusty Ferret WIP
(See completed MOC here.)

As some of you may well be aware, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, and quite frankly this is to ease the sweating, vomiting, insomnia, and violent tremors I’ve been suffering since starting this period of MOCpages abstinence so many moons ago.

So what we’ve got here is a short progress report done primarily for the sake of getting something…anything, for God’s sake…posted . I’ve got plans to start another big SHIP once the Invisible Hand is finally broken down (about halfway there at this point), but decided to throw together something smaller and Star-Warsey-ish in the mean time. So I give you the Rusty Ferret…

This is the concept drawing that the model’s based upon. I’m using the general form, and just kind of making up changes as I go. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find who came up with this sweet little corvette, however it was initially meant to be a part of the extended Star Wars universe.

Why the Rusty Ferret you ask? Well, if they can have a Moldy Crow, a Rusty Ferret shouldn’t be too much of a stretch, right? Besides, with a name like that it’s kind of like dangling a carrot in front of all the smack-talkers out there. Let the innuendoes begin!

Can’t tell you how good it feels to be building again. The withdrawals were horrendous. First I started speaking in rhyme. Not long after that I developed a bad case of jazz hands. And before I knew it I was having delusions of Keith Goldman spoon feeding me Baklava while wearing a**-less chaps and a grin. It finally hit home…I needed help!

I tried using Legoderm CQ (a.k.a. “the patch”) but found the first one to have little affect. And unfortunately, in the midst of a sudden and violent withdrawal seizure, I accidentally swallowed the rest of the box. (That was a fun 24 hours, let me tell you!). Anyway, after the swelling subsided, I decided there was only one way out of this hellish nightmare – it was time to start building again.

So I’ve once again abandoned my wife and my work, shirked all responsibility, blown off all of my friends (shut up, Phipson!), blissfully turned a blind eye to the world at large, and am now on the road to recovery. Hopefully this symbol of my new lease on life will be complete in a few more weeks, and then…then it’s time to get started on something REALLY cool!

Until next time, Kelso

Unfortunately, I don't plan any of this stuff out. I'm really bad about it, but I don't do a parts count or anything like that either - my focus tends to be on the aesthetics of a creation. Sorry about that.

Hi rusty, looks great, do have some plans? Would like to build it as well. Thanks for a reply Mike

Have you seen Izzo Yoshi's mechs? (Best to find them on Brickshelf, because MOCpages glicthed his pages to deletion--ouch!) His mechs are like the Japanese-Style equivilent to Brian Kescenovitz's mechs! I added him as a favorite on my homepage, so you can click the link if you wanna see his mechs. I'm adapting his style now. See ya later, and keep the bricks stackin'! ~Phong Chang

Hey Kelso, I finally got my first MOTD yesterday! PS: How big is ths guy gonna be?! PSS: Have you seen my two newest mechs? They're probobly my two biggest as well. (Other than the LEGACY, which I regret dissasemling, who might be the same size.) Keep the bricks stacking! (Hehe, I finally developed a catch phrase.) Edit: What?! I didn't know you took apart the Invisable Hand! Whyyyyyyyy? Just kidding; I understand when a creation gets old and boring. I took apart my Liberty Gundam for the same reason. ~Phong Chang

Oddly enough, I have the same thoughts of Keith Goldman... he's dreamy. But I digress, Mark - its great to see you spending way too much time and money on a LEGO project. When you build things like this, I don't feel so bad about making my 'little purchases' (talking about LEGOs). It just feels like all is right in the world when Mark Kel$o is building gigantic microscale. Did I mention that I am kicking around the idea of building a rodent-based MOC of my very own?

I understand what you feel, it's a pain for guys like us if we can't build ! Funny comments, and nice pics of your next master piece here. But it isn't cool, now with that wonderful beast, I will have to wait again to post my next microscale ship, built in August, because this one is so much better ! - Just kidding, I'm happy to see a new thing by you, Ship-Master :)

Did anyone else in here notice that the symbol on the ship in the concept art looks suspiciously like Mizar's symbol from the N64 game Jet Force Gemini? And here I thought the Invisible Hand was going to be one of those MOCs that stayed intact forever, gathering dust and uselessly locking up all those juicy parts... didn't you glue part of it? How does that work for dismantling? Anyway, pip pip and jolly good show old man, Lego is supposed to be all about destruction and rebirth. Now if we could only wean you off that tired old Star Wars universe...

That's what you should do!, while in a slightly delusional state, i realised you had finally posted something again, and as i wrapped my infintescimally small brain around it, my Pixie said "(insert pixie growl voice) Why don't he just build a Venator Class Republic Star Destroyer?" And i tend to agree with my delusional State of mind-"OI!", sorry...- Why don't you build a Scale (to the Giant Condom) Venator?, that would be awesome Mark. (it's only a suggestion)...*wish making in progress*... ~Martin

Thank god you gave in to the temptation of tearing the invisble hand down. Whats worse than legos not being put to use in a new build!!! (I'd like to take credit for inspiring you to tear it down based on the comment I made during the Ocean encounter). Ok, moving on. This thing looks freaking awesome!! Thank God! My aching hunger for a Mark Kelso MOC has been satisfied. About time, man! And to think I thought you were slackin'. You've already accomplished more with LEGO right here than I ever have. Ooh, those are some nifty details on that bad boy. Not building Lego can do stuff to you can't it? I mean, if you don't build for too long it'll get to your hands and ya can't build at all!
