VOAT: Futuron "Starhopper"
About this creation

After seeing Uspez Morbo's recent "Gyre" VOAT I was immediately inspired to get back to the Blacktron-inspired-cockpit-coolnes of VOATs. I'd wanted to do a Futuron ship for a while now and this seemed like a good time to break out my white bricks. My first attempt really didn't grab me:

so I destroyed it and started again from scratch. I'm quite happy with this one, it's chunkyness gives it a cute look and I deliberately kept it simple so I guess it looks like an official set, only it needs some trans red which I forgot :( But it does have landing gear. Woot! Try your own VOAT; it's a lot of fun and quite challenging.

VOAT is a very challenging thing to make ... especially in smaller sets with minimal amount of bricks. I admire this little ship, stairway from cokcpit and wheels as engines mostly.

The engines and retro-looking cockpit look great together. The 1st attempt wasn't all that bad itself, but I do like the smaller 2nd attempt. Great work.

reminds me of this girl from kalamazoo. Who's aft was so large, she had trouble on the loo. It took years of wigglin, till it all stopped jigglin, and now she's got her sights... ON YOU! hahahahahahaha! Joker.

So you think that all you have to do is just say "Hey, try your own" and all of us will just fall right in line huh? Now, where did I put my white bricks and blue cockpit?... Oh, and I wouldn't worry about Kelso's question... he kinda has a fixation if you know what I mean. ~Chris.

Ocean, you done it again man! Great retro feel here. The front hatch adds a certain coolness factor to it as well. As for the thrusters, waaaay cool (but yeah, maybe some penicillin will clear that up). Are those thrusters, in fact, large tires turned inside out?

Awesome, dude! I could maaaaybe pull off a similar vehicle, only it'd be grey (my most common color) and trans-orange (the only color I have for octagons). There are many things this Futuron vehicle resembles, but mostly it looks AWESOME. yep :)

Very nice! It looks kind of like a fish. I am impressed by the landing gear.

Brilliant, man! That landing gear is like some sort of, um, what's the word? Oh, yeah. Revelation. Nice way to create a dual purpose feature!

Wow! I love the three unfolding sections of the cockpit! And I love your use of inside-out tires! And it's always nice to see classic spacemen! I love the way the that the cockpit makes a staircase! ~ James : )

Very cool, Shan. Love the way the cockpit section opens up. I have to ask, is that the way those big black balls on the thrusters are supposed to look, or is that the result of an unfortunate medical condition?

The first one looked like you still could have done something with it... oh well. I think this one is better. It's got a beautiful compact shape, tight color scheme, and clever engine and cockpit design. Great job.

I don't think I've ever seen a Futuron ship with this cockpit, it's a great combination ! But - excuse me for that - I think I slightly prefer your first attempt (event if the two are plenty awesome), there's some very original ideas in it , like the back with the car parts, and the front - I hope you'll go on with theses beautiful neo-Tron MOCs !!! PS - Don't believe I don't love this one, I just think that the first attempt deserves its own topic :)

This rules! I just love the 'smallness' of it! I've got to do something like this!
