A Futuristic Millitary Command Center garrisoned by the New Republic troops.
About this creation
My suggetion: skip the first paragraph!
I warned you... ;) The Command Center is the heart of every base. Not much millitary action is done here. Mostly, it serves as a residence to a general and his bodyguards. Many important decidions are made here. The coordination of the armed forces is very difficult without a command center. It takes a lot of time to construct one, so it usually is the first building to be deployed on a site.
This Particular Command Center was occupied by the New Republic Forces under General Solo's leadership during their mission 'Hostile Shore' on planet Coutack.
I started making the CC in the beginning of February, but somehow I couldn't make the outer walls seem aggressive enough. At last, I came up with the design you see below: the two-level reinforced walls. The roof was a lot easier to make. I would like to thank Fred Trayers for inspiration and the roof ideas. Finally, I found an appropariate color scheme: the gray/dark gray walls inspired by the Iron Reich. ;) After making the rear making better-looking than the front (a common thing in my MOCs), I started working on the interior. I came to realise the CC needed a conference table. At first, I wanted to use the wing piece most of you will remember from the late '90s series SPACE SHUTTLE. I thought it would make a perfect conference table, but in fact the result looked too bulky, so I had to replace the piece with something more elegant. The 'orthopedic' chair for the general was made in less than 2 minutes together with the desk. That gave the interior a more finished look. I think that's it for the history of the MOC, please enjoy.

Some naive stormtroopers attacking the center will be seen...

Even the intellegence officers have to leave their weapons over here.

This photo features the conference table, 3 holoprojectors, 6 guards, 6 control panels, 2 intellegence officers and 2 defence turrets. Yeah, I know, you don't believe I hate Math.

The defence turrets... They should handle the hazard...

Let's get back to business, Mr. Red Cap... Why red? I always wanted to do something for the eastern block, but somehow never got the chance. The red caps were purchased, though and definetly had to be used...

I would like to thank Jared from the MCN for the ammo belt I used on the custom minifigs.

By the way, you can get the custom minifig decals from the Brickshelf page.

Yes, these are the headcrabs from HL2, Mr. Solo's new pets! You ask: 'Why here? What has Coutack to do with headcrabs?' I answer: 'Nothing at all... Just can't resist showing off my sculpting skills.' ;)

Cool base, could do with some outer structures, seems a bit lonely to me. Like put it in one corner and have a repair bay or something in the other etc. Still great work! |
