Here is my final MOC for the MOC-Olympics, the category is “You know what they say”:
Enjoy the pictures:
And these are the sayings, which I have chosen:
German: Wer nichts wagt, der nichts gewinnt
English: Nothing ventured, nothing gained
German: Wo ein Wille ist, ist auch ein Weg
English: Where there's a will there's a way
German: Irren ist menschlich
English: To err is human
Latin: Errare humanum est
And of course this one, we use the English expression in German too:
No risk, no fun!!
And here is the backstory of my MOC:
At the start I did a lot of research for popular sayings in English, German and even in Latin and after a while I had some not so nice thoughts about this category. I came up with some lame ideas, but nothing of them was good enough for the last round.
Then I found this one: Save the best for last, which fits perfect to the last round of MOC-Olympics and is the motto of my MOC! That was the time, when I came up with the idea to do it the other way round (the saying for this in German: Das Pferd von hinten aufzäumen). I decided to build something, that I like to build (the ship), put it in a situation and then to find a saying for this.
I built this ship with the help of a plastic-model, which I had contructed some years ago. If you are interested in it, it is up to you to find out, which ship it is!
The length of the lego-ship is 1,12 m (this is about 3 feet and 7 inches).
Unfortunately I had not enough tan bricks for the deck, so I chose yellow instead.
At the end some pictures I made during construction:
I had to destroy my classic space entry to build the ship:(
Now it's done and I am very curious, what Andrew had built! I think we both agree, that it also was a little bit of luck, that we have made it this far.
I am a little relieved that there is no other round and I have not to destroy this MOC immediately like the others before.
Of course I want to thank everybody for their nice comments and especially Chris and Dave for the organisation of the whole thing! Not to forget the judges who had to make all this hard decisions!!
Have you ever watched Pulp fiction? I guess you have... I think that the unforgettable 'Mmmhm, this is a tasty burger!' could easily be rephrased into 'Mmmhm, this is a winning stuff!' With all the melody in Jackson's voice included of course...
Is it the Gneisenau or the Scharnhorst? My best guess is German with all the German quotes... any way, the saying I would pick for it is: "Oh no, we're heading straight for a waterfall!" or "Look out!" You know, one of those stereotypical movie lines... =)
You should be banned from all contests so that someone else might get a chance. LOL You are quite an amazing young builder and I want you to go away! I'm just kidding, of course. I love seeing what new and amazing thing you will do next...~H
Cooles Schiff.
Sehr beeindruckend! - Kevin

Good job Sven. And thank you for thanking Chris for the whole MocOlympics thing and not me, no mention at all. Yep. Thanks, its not like I was involved in it in the least bit. Again, good build! ;-)

Thanks for your comment, hadn´t looked at my Venator in the last days, so my back comment comes a little bit late sorry. I live near Kassel. Can you take a look at my new Mygeeto, people are saying it is my best MOC jet and I would like to know your opinion.
And the winner is.... dundunduuuunnn! Congratulations Sven! And really, congratulations to EVERYONE! This has been a great experience for me. I think everyone really pulled out all the stops and turned in some excelent work through out the entire competetion. But, next time I try to do something like this... stop me. HAHAHA! Congrats again. ~Chris.
I'm speechless... I still can't believe I won this. Thank you all! The judges, all who wrote comments and motivated me, all my opponents, AND of course Chris Phipson for realizing this great idea, he put a big amount of work into this! Thanks Chris!
It was a fantastic experience for me to try on new building techniques and themes I never did before! The hardest part for me was always the writing and the presentation of the MOC!
I think I will go back to normal now and build something technical like a Star Trek ship or a tank ...
Oh My GOD! This a lot, lot better than any else entry! Sad for Andrew, but this is gonna beat hes MOc so down! This MOC is huge! The ship is great! I love those details! I think taht YOU are the winner of the MOColympics!
Sven...Sven...Sven. I am speechless. This MOC is amazing and gets my vote for best MOC of the entire MOCOlympics. You really, really outdid yourself here. The detail is unbelievable and the concept is spot on. Your saying of 'save the best for last' is completely fitting. I'm glad it was Andrew and not me who had to go up against you on this one. Good luck and I look forward to seeing this as MotD very soon. :-)

Sven, you DO realize with this epic masterpiece, that you have caused me to lose a bet to Chris Phipson of all people. Congratulations on a well deserved win. I suppose I should have tried to pay you to take a dive huh? Well, off to pay the piper now. ~Heather
Ta-da! like I said before you are the CHAMPION! and it feels good to be beaten by a very worthy opponent like in that one Samurai Jack episode where the warrior who was trapped in a rock monster body and waited hundreds of years to die honorably in combat to a worthy warrior so that he could finally go to Valhalla, the resting place of warriors. ALL Hail the KING!!!
Well Sven, I don’t think I’m dropping any bombs here by officially giving you the win…this thing is flat out amazing. It’s the perfect culmination to a string of awesome entries from you that leaves no doubt about who deserves to be the champ. All hail he new King!
WAY TO FINISH OUT THIS COMPETITION!!! Not only does this one get my vote for the final round, but (just as a potential grand champion should) it would get my vote for best of the entire MocOlympics...I mean, WOW! We'll see what the other judges say, but if you ask me, congratulations are in order for you winning the whole maguilla! GREAT BUILD!

Wow! I am so glad you decided to keep this entry small and simple. I was expecting to see something 'over the top'. Seriously, this a great entry for the final round. I expected to see nothing less. GREAT work here, great work. ~SG
Wow.... Very nice build. Both in size, and in number of details. My only issue is that it does not look very clean, and that just comes from the studs, so it's all good. Good luck with this, but I'm not sure you need it...
I have a saying: "The bigger they are, the harder they fall!" Wow man that is amazing! Never thought I'd see a battleship going over a waterfall for this category! Some great construction techniques in there too, especially the tapering of the bow and the bridge section looks beautiful. Well done and best of luck against Andrew-the pressure's on mate!
WHAT? No jets flying in the background? No troops marching over the falls? No giant sea mnonster waiting at the bottom with jaws open? Come on Sven, what were you thinking... Hahahaha. WOW! This is one of the most impressive mocs I've seen in a long time! Forget the MocOlympics, you've blown all of us out of the water with this one! (pun intended there) I'll come back again after the judges pick up their jaws off the floor. ~ Chris.
There're some times in the life that the words couldn't describe what the eyes see, and this is one of those times!! man this is too awesome.. so you left the BIGGER to the final.. any way I couldn't say it better than Crimso.. you really have a bright future with those mad bricks.. just keep building! good luck in your final round >>> peace.. Fofo
This is awe-inspiring. I love the construction of the battleship, especially the bow section and bridge. The way it juts out from the edge of the waterfall is perfect. You definitely have a habit of overdoing these things.
Seriously, I'm IMPRESSED !!! I knew that some "young" builders were very good, but not as good as that ! What are you gonna do in a few years, as an AFOL ??? It will be incredible !!! - I think it's impossible you loose with such a wonder, unless the judges have gone mad. One of the best MOC I've ever seen, truly.
Absolutely beautiful! If the purpose is to portray this vessel as one being doomed, I must disagree. This thing looks like its got the power to pull itself out of trouble! (Is is the Bismark or Tirpitz?)
