In this revision I made the mountain taller and closed it in, adding about 5,000 piecec. I also added more interior lighting from LifeLites (thanks Rob) I had to dis-assemble the entire top of the mountain for the down lights and mountain restructure. it took about 4 months on-and-off. Check out all the picture from the begining.
About this creation
In this revision (#6) I made the mountain taller and closed it in, adding about 5,000 pieces. I also added more interior lighting from LifeLites (thanks Rob). I had to completely dis-assemble the entire top of the mountain for the down lights and mountain restructure. It took about 4 months working on-and-off. Thanks to all the Bricklink stores and to Rob @ LifeLites and an E-bay purchase for Christo's store. I don't even want to try to figure how much I have into this money wise, I think my wife might kill me. It has been lots of fun and it is great building with my son. We have built all this by ourselves. A special thanks goes out to Dave Eaton for inspiring me, even though I have never met him, just seen his work. It is time to dis-assemble and get it ready for transport in case I decide to got to a show, maybe nexy year in Seattle.
A close-up view of the newly installed downlights and a second look at my custom gantry that the mechanics need to work on the X-wings.
An exterior view looking inside Echo base. Notice the custom TaunTaun (Cristo's store on E-bay). The custom turrets are my design.
A close up view of sick bay with a custom Too-Onebee medical droid and Luke in the bacta tank for recover. Leia waits anxoiusly for word on Luke's condition.
A view from the side, showing the detail and size of the mountain. You can also see some of the other lighted hallway with sickbay and R2D2 and C3PO going to visit Luke in the bacta tank
A newly light hallway with a lighted acess control panel. I also modified the acess panels so more interior viewing is possible. You can also see the lights that were installed.
An overall view of the layout with the finish mountain in he distant.

I am wanting to make my own Hoth diorama. Unfortunately it will be a lot smaller because I have a lot less pieces and no ATAT's (that's the four legged ones, right?) But, I have the original snowpeeder as well as the brand new Hoth battle sets.

Yes I have seen them and have purchased 5 sets so far. I am almost done with my third walker and will post some pictures of the base soon. This rendition will have around 100,000 pieces, 150 led lights and about 100 minifigures. It will be about 5'-9" wide and 12'-0" long, with motorized doors and a custom rebuild of Lego's UCS falcon.

Mocpages needs a 10/10 rating system. 5/5's are too common and something like this deserves more. There are hundreds of MOC's on this site that have a 5/5 but would be a 6/10 compared to this if this was a 10/10. Anyways, this is an amazing model. The scope of this project is epic. You should honestly call a local toy store (toys r us, etc, depending on where you live) and explain to them your model and ask if they'd want you to put it on display in the LEGO section of their store. I could see this right in the middle of the floor, surrounded by a glass case, with a giant rack of LEGO Star Wars merchandise and products behind it. Guaranteed sales would increase, albeit if only a little. Anyways amazing work, your son must be proud :). Hope you guys really enjoyed making this, I definitely enjoyed looking at it. If you have a minute, I appreciate any comments and ratings on my creations, thanks! |

Excellent craftsmanship on this. The sheer scale is mind-boggling and dedication to detail laudable. This brings back fond memories of how I'd make my own rebel base under a table with blankets and my own Lego Star Wars builds shortly after Empire Strikes Back came out. If only I had a credit card, access to Bricklink and could intercept the mail before my parents found out, then I might have built something like this way back when ;-) |

So that's why I couldn't find any white bricks on Bricklink! It all makes sense now...
Seriously though, this is phenomenal! I absolutely love that you left the back of it wide open so the interior is easily viewable. Also, you've done a great job creating the general shape of the mountain. |

Wow, this is insane! I love the attention to detail and everything is perfect! the lights give it that look that couldn't have been done without them. I would give it more smileys but MOC only gives us five. |

Ah, so many of us walk that dangerous precipice between just one more Cracklink order...and divorce papers. (Here's hoping they all stay blissfully unaware!) Meanwhile, beautiful work. Just amazing! The building techniques are excellent to begin with, and the lighting puts it over the top. I hope you get a chance to show it at some point. By the way, have you considered a web cam on your Christmas list? This thing is just SCREAMIN' for some stop-motion animation! |

This is incredible sir (or ma'm?) I am very impressed! and like that you put in so much detail and it must have cost you a fortune to buy all those pices. If you ever plan on revising it again I think you should add more rooms inside like a tauntaun stables or a wampa cave whose cave is not apart of the base but dug a tunnel to so he could eat rebel soldiers but these are just suggestions and if you don't revise it and move on to somthing else it's perfectly fine. |

THIS. IS. TEH AWESOMENESS. That's absolutely, hands-down, no questions asked, the BEST Hoth Echo Base EVER. It would be VERY smart not to inform your wife on the cost, she might faint! Also, you're like the first person I've seen with the R2-D2 from the Death Star set, right? I ENVY YOU AND YOUR SON :DDD |

Absolutely faboulus! I like your diorama of the Hoth rebel base! I know how much work it is to finish such a project and I'm very impressed by the details. "Empire" is the best STAR WARS Episode anyway. |

Oh my dear Jedi Lego Master!- you have achieved unimaginable legendary status with this! Iconic for all lego Star Wars! I particularly love the lights and the medical wing. This piece belongs in a lego museum, definitely. Man, I am tired from pulling an all nighter for finals, but this caught my sore eyes with its beauty. |
