About this creation
LIU Mineral Surveyor Mech
The Ludgonian Industrial Union is proud to present our newest product, the LIU Mineral Surveyor Mech (MSM). Use the MSM's various instruments to uncover mineral deposits, locate fossils, or find your friend you buried a little too deep in the sand.

The MSM is a bi-pedal Mecha designed to scout various terrains for mineral deposits. The MSM uses a combination of ground penetrating radar, thermal and spectral imaging, and good old fashion metal detectors to detect these deposits.

Some might argue that the MSM is overkill, as traditional satellite based surveyors can complete the task and are much less expensive than the MSM, but we disagree. Ground based surveyors, such as the MSM, are proven to be .3% more accurate than their orbiting counterparts. How much would you pay to be .3% more accurate?

Eight pods on the MSM's legs fire high energy sound waves into the planet's crust. These sound waves bounce off various deposits and are collected by the radar units pictured below.

Here are the aforementioned radar units. These units pick up sound vibrations and convert them to images. Each type of mineral reflects the sound waves differently allowing the MSM to determine which minerals rest below.

The MSM's large feet increase stability, but more importantly, they serve as instruments themselves. The right leg contains thermal and spectral imaging scanners and the left leg has a built in metal detector. These instruments compliment the MSM's sound wave mapping system.

The MSM is slightly bulky and unsteady, but experienced pilots can safely get the MSM to run at about 35 mph. Unsafely, they can get it to run at about 45 mph.
 An experienced MSM pilot.
The MSM saves all its survey data and converts it into easy to read maps, but as a back-up, a separate crew marks especially valuable deposits with a flag. Why does the crew have such angry faces? They're mad that they don't get to pilot this awesome machine*. Don't be like them, get your own!
*Note: The high energy sound waves given off by the MSM cause nearby items to vibrate violently. Such vibrations have been shown to dislodge or damage teeth, cause hearing loss, and spawn STD's (at least that's what the designer told his wife). Such vibrations may also be responsible for the mad faces on the ground crew, but we like our reason better.

Maybe they are good vibrations? The only thing I would like to see added to this fine creation is a minifig army being stomped on by this beauty. Lee. |

The colour scheme definitely has a commercial look to it and that blocky look fits the role. some good camera angles give it even more weight. Good stuff. |

Thanks for the input. The top was originally thicker and taller, but I couldn't get it to balance on the legs for the life of me, so I chopped it down. Even at its current height and weight I had a hard time keeping it upright. |
