A Disney Cruise Boat
When the theme "History of Transportation: Past, Present and Beyond" was decided upon in 2007, for GFLUG's involvement in Festival of the Masters 2008, I thought about doing a micro scale version of a Disney cruise boat. (Image by Joe Meno)
About this creation
So I started this back in Feb. 2008, I posted a preview of it on my Flickr account, but it has undergone several transformations since it's first incarnation. I've made it a little taller and a little longer.

The micro pirate ship was supplied by Joe Meno. It was originally part of his display, but half way into Festival of the Masters, we both realized that it was almost to scale of the Flying Dutchman from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies on display in the lagoon of Castaway Cay.

The boat itself is to scale, but it's only greebled on one side, and I didn't have time to add swimming pools to the top of the boat... I got lots of comments about how the top of the boat didn't look finished... Oh well.

I'm not too happy with the front of the boat; the nose just doesn't look right -- very blocky. GFLUG will have another Disney themed display next fall, so a few weeks before, I'll try to fix the nose of the boat to look more sleek.

Over all, the boat was about 90% instantly recognizable... a few people thought it was the Titanic or the Queen Mary... the subtlety of the GFLUG display being at Downtown Disney, at Walt Disney World, and it looking like a Disney boat escaped some people. :)

I'm very happy with my MOC. With more time, I could have fixed the nose of the boat, added pools, and put microfig people on the beach, but the palm trees and umbrellas were enough to convey that it was docked at Castaway Cay, so I was happy.

I was planning on commenting on this earlier, but I just didn't have the time. There's no way I'd ever even try to build a boat of that size. My expertise don't float too well around city. Good day
