A European style Semi with a flatbed trailer and telehandler
About this creation
this is my first European style truck, it is of my own design. It's a two axle tractor with a two axle semi low loader trailer. The trailer has steering on the last axle. the first version had a problem with the steering. The steering would lock before the trailer could pivot all the way causing the gears to slip and the steering to go out of alignment. This was corrected by a couple of things. First I lowered the steering ratio. I went from a 14 tooth to a 12 tooth bevel gear on the turntable gear. Next I did a gear reduction with an 8 tooth gear to a 24 tooth clutch gear. This prevents the steering gears from slipping if the steering should lock before the trailer is turned all the way. The next thing I did was to take off two of the axles, on on the tractor and one on the trailer. I thought this gave a more realistic , well proportioned look. In addition to that I went to the 62.4x20 tires. I also used the silver rims from the enzo set as gas tanks and put fenders on the trailer. The last thing I did was I improved the gear drive on the telehandler with the addition of a clutch gear and an additional gear reduction, to slow the speed of the boom and to prevent damage. I also strengthened the frame and made the steering a bit smoother.
Hi, I like the way how you built all your trucks. It's A brilliant way.
Would it be a problem for you to send me the building instructions? DonathTom@web.de is my email adress.
Thanks
