Titan 4 (incomplete)
The Titan 4 was meant to replace the T3, but it never met with expectations.
About this creation
The Titan 4 is a direct evolution of the T3, and was anticipated to be a huge success by the Minsato Corporation. But due to a rampant budget and a complicated, unreliable design, the project was nearly dissolved before it was shelved for later development. Of the few prototypes that were made, only one managed a full lap of the company's test track. Also, because of it's complicated design, the legs had to be fully automated before it would move, which left the upper body completely useless. However, as the T3 was still in production at the time of this debacle, the company was able to simply refresh the T3's specs and sweep the T4 under the rug.

As for the model itself, I found it troubling. I really like the design, but the hips, knees and shoulders were constant thorns. I tried a dozen different ideas and techniques, but they were either flexible and wobbly, or reliable and not articulated enough. After awhile I set it aside to work on my REX project, and left it alone for the most part. When REX was finished (mostly) I decided to start a new, completely separate mech, but after awhile I found myself scavenging parts from the T4.

As it is now, it's mostly intact and I plan to at least use the legs for another mech, though I don't know when that will be.

The T4 is about the same height as the T3, but it uses a lot more parts, especially in the legs.

The torso section is very similar to the T3; it uses the same hatch and is laid out the same. The biggest difference is in the shoulder design, as it uses ball joints instead of universal joints for articulation.

The profile on the T4 is a lot nicer than the T3, since it looks more solid and less vulnerable. But those legs make it hard to stand up straight.

I also really like the back view... there's not much I don't like about how it looks, I just don't like how it works!

The shoulders aren't as 'organic' as the T3's, but they're stronger and more stable by far.

The upright shoulder armor was inspired by (pick your favorite Evangelion unit).

Finally are the cockpit opening pictures. Nothing too flashy, but the hatch does make a nice platform to stand on when fully open.

Thanks for looking, and look forward to more soon!

It's awesome to see something from you even if it isn't finished! It would be cool to see this completed but it's totally understandable if you're sick of dealing with it. The upper body and head look extremely cool and I was totally pleased with the chest cockpit. The legs and especially the feet are nice as well. Nice seeing you again!

Looking good, I want to keep track of your progress and see how you develop this Mech. Looks like you have some work to do here and there, like on the arms. Still you have an interesting style, keep building!

I like how it looks cleaner than the T3. But I think the neatest parts of the T3 were all the extras jutting off its frame with all the mechanical parts exposed, whereas this looks like it would have most of that stuff built in under cowlings and armor plate.

Flat out awesome! I'm glad you're back! I like the Titan 3's head better though. PS: Would you mind commenting on my MOCs?
