PAHAB
About this creation
This is my attempt to make a full size humanoid robot combining the LEGO Mindstorms NXT and Power Functions using the IR-link sensor. I call it PAHAB, as it stands for Partially Autonomous Humanoid Android Bot. I started this project a while back (october 2008). It weighs approx. 60 lbs and consists of about 30 000 parts and pieces.

Sweet build! I probably don't have that many axles. Love robotics and stuff. By the way....who are those people in the background? Just curious..... Keep building! Jeff

Hello, I believe this truly massive project doesn't get the attention it deserves. I whould like to make a (series of) blog post(s)about PAHAB on the NXT step blog , for which I am an author. To do this I will need an "inside look" and extra documentation. Please contact me, I hope we can work together. hellemans.martijn@hotmail.com

wow daniel! this project is ambitious to the bone! i have a robot project too, merging technics, nxt, solar, and pneumatic! i abandonned the 2 legs prototype for a track system, i waslucky enough to get the best wheels lego ever made for something like it, how will you ever manage to solve the robot to keep balance? there are some devices, but, i don t know how you will make it work with a power system structure, i m very interested in your project, good luck daniel!

Hey I just looked at the pictures on Brickshelf! WOW! It is almost hard to believe that it is all stud less TECHNIC. I like the upper shoulder joint the best. Wow just wow, this is a very unique project. I am curious to know more about the legs and the joint construction. I also got to test out and play around with some of the power functions system. Which makes me wonder about how the PAHAB works. Post more information. Again, the pictures on Brickshelf are impressive!

He (PAHAB) is even more impresive when you see him live. He was on display on a local exhibition here in Tromsø 26-27.September 2009. My pictures from the exhibition can be found here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=403345

Quoting Eric Sophie Hey, how is your project coming along?
Hey there! The project is actually on pause for the moment as I've been really busy with work lately. The arms are almost finished, though. Still needs to be reinforced a little to be able to cope with the heavy weight. I'm actually thinking about gluing most of the shoulder bricks to make it more sturdy.

Re: Your Question - Got a question, though, regarding Jama. I know you don't have it here on MOCpages, but I was wondering how you are able to overcome the weight from the arms and still make them moveable and also with motors? I'm having a lot of trouble with this with my humanoid. The axles and gears aren't strong enough and keep bending and breaking, especially the shoulder joint when you want the arms to move outwards. Anyways, great work! Jama is my favorite of all your creations!
Hello Sir, nice to meet you. Thank you for the kind compliments on my work! So you have a question about Jama? Are you ready for the answers?!! I want you to study this photo, then we can begin talking about how to make it work for your model. You have a lot of stud less Technic so there will be some differences in the application. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2392871 Let me know when you are ready!

Quoting Eric Sophie Whoa, that isnt easy! Especially using Stud less Technic. What are your plans for the rest?
Actually, I find it pretty easy to use studless technic, easier than using bricks in many ways. I think there are less limitations and more options with studless. Good question! I'm planning on completing the arms and make legs for this humanoid. I haven't decided yet if the legs will be motorized, but so far I am a little concerned about the weight and if the legs will be able to carry this massive load of plastic, which weights nearly 14 pounds.

Quoting Ape Fight Oooh, creepy! Sort of looks like Achmed the Dead Terrorist. Quite an ambitious project which will be amazing when done if you get enough movements, i.e. arms, hands head etc. Good luck : )
I hear that a lot that it looks a bit like Achmed. I however personally don't think so myself.

Quoting Willis, the Legomancer t's just hope it doesn't gain enough knowledge to take over humanity!…… well, actually, a decent fire should be able to bring him to his knees… how come only one pic has PAHAB with eyebrows?
It will take over the world using mind control, haha. Actually, the one picture you refer to is an old picture of the thing - One of the first actually. Just wanted to post it for comparison. I am also working on the "new" eyebrows. Maybe changing the slope bricks with darker ones.
