This version of xalos is one of the most complx of my MOCs to date, and employs a lot of techniques used by my dear freind, Christian collins!
About this creation
Xalos is undoubtedly one of the most powerful Ice beings in existence. His hordes of Ice Minions and golems are a force to be reckoned with. Once, when the World was younger, Xalos, as well as all of the other Elemental Lords, was a lot more active. Xalos' prowess on the battlefield was unmatched, even by his brothers, and his great Halberd, Rak'thor, entered the archives of ancent lore as one of the most insidious weapons ever weilded. One of the ancient Ko-matoran scrolls reads: "Sapping the strength of his foes, it filled them with a deep cold within their heartlight that could not be cured. Those who were lucky enough, died after the earth shattering blow that the weapon brought upon them, but those who did not die were changed. They left us. They stole from us. They murdered us. They fled our hallowed halls and joned the forces of He Who Walks in the Frost, and became strange, changed beings, that fought us on the fild of battle. The Frostlord would walk among them as a tower of gleaming Protodermis, and bend them to his unholy will." The legends also descrbe his sheild, "rimed with light so powerful as to cut through the very earth beneath us", and his powers over ice and cold "even we, the frost-pilgrims, could not stand the cold he gave. We fell to his dark, chilling breath as a rathi before a poison sphere (the rathi were a form of ice vermin that are now extinct)*"
MOC: Xalos #4's design is based mainly off Ty Construct's Keyblade Weilders, and previous Xalos models, but the CIS battle droids and General Greivous probably play a part here too, and, as evident by the coat-tails, formal menswear. Um.
A shot of the front wthout "rak'thor" In the way. I like how the matoran body adds a bit of assymmetry to him.
A shot of the back, with the cloak on.
His mighty KeyAxe, Rak'thor. It's based loosely off some of Christian's cersons, but SUPERSIZED. Those Exo-Force gun barrels are really good for this sort of thing, as long as you use more than two.
His legs, from the side. I've seen Piraka skulls used as feet before, but not as a seperate part. I got the inspration from the Transformers Movie, where one of the protoforms gets up and you see the mechanisms in its leg moving, like a lever. Um. The generator-like thingies he has on his thighs just occured to me halfway through, but 'm sure Nikola Tesla was involved in that tran of thought somewhere...
The back, with no cape. The bit between his shoulders there worked awesomely. You can just imagine those 6 lttle cogs whirring away while inside that cage... He also has some fashionable coat tails! Fancy!
Ths odd shot is just to show how much that neck peice (Solek's leg) looks so much like an actual neckbone - all the little vertebrae stcking out like that...
And this one is to show my "Secret weapon" As it were. An early matoran torso - a white one - plunged right into the heart of Xalos' body. For me, it provides a lot of oppertunities to put peices in different directions on a MOC, and that's no bad thing...
So, all in all, I hope you've enjoyed seeing this little surprise of mine. There's more to come. Xalos#5 is already done, but if you'd like to decide what *you* want to see on #6, then put a comment on Xalos#1, to say what you'd like to see, "Even if it's dumb, it's going on"... What was I *thinking* when I wrote that?!
