About this creation
Boy, i wish i could come up with good names for things that i build, but i simply cannot. Sorry. This city was inspired by an episode of Malcolm in the Middle (back when that show hadn't gone completely weird and crappy) where the little kid builds a totalitarian police state with his bricks and other toys. At the time, i'd thought that was a splendid idea, so i proceeded to start building the same kind of thing. the first step was to construct an opulent palace for the seat of government.
Thus, the Imperial Palace was created. I think i have better pictures of it than what are here, but these will have to suffice, i suppose.

This is an overhead view of the Imperial Palace (at center), with the reflecting pools and bridge in the front, the old Empire Church directly above it, and the Evil Black Tower and Shiny Gray Tower above and to the left. The Senate chamber is below the skylight at lower right on the Palace, and the offices occupy the rest of the building.

Here's a picture with the Convention Center/Hotel under construction (note the escalators already in place) There is a kinda Spanish arch/column motif to the front of the Imperial Palace, which is directly attributable to my using pieces from Pirate sets.
But enough about the palace. What about the skyscrapers? It's always so hard for me when building a city--the balancing act between making one building wicked cool at the expense of leaving no pieces whatsoever for other buildings. There was a decent balance here, despite my having used up all the white pieces pretty flagrantly.

This is a picture of the central city area, with the yellow apartment building with its nice little balconies at center. The Shiny Gray Tower at back left is one of my favorites--it's inspired by the architecure in the game Oni, with blinking lights in strange places and lots of glass and pointy bits. The palace is at right.

Here's a closer view of the Shiny Gray Tower, looking down the street, with the hospital at lower left, the apartments on the right, and the Evil Black Building at center. A word about the Evil Black Building. It's so hard to build inviting, pleasant structures with black pieces, so i just didn't bother. It has some nasty looking decorative fins on it, and very little interior detail. And i was kinda scraping for something to build with the remaining pieces (i hate building with black, because it's so hard to dig through the buckets). Anyway...
Here's a few more links to pictures, which are big, so i won't put them inline.
