Space Police Spy Trak II
This is the second model I am releasing for my neo-classic space themes revisited section (I know a mouthful). Basically I started with the standard Spy Trak I model, took off the big plastic tires; stuck on some rubber ones. Well I liked it then, but couldn't stop there. So I went further and added 6 more tires to make two sets in the rear. I love this particular look because it is now a wheeled half track sort of... it just looks ready to roll over terrain and take on a Battrax, even my new version. The hardest part of the model was make a wheel support structure for the rear wheels. The rear wheels use some complicated element arrangement to be stabilized, yet give the impression of shock system. Took some real work to get this right, but I like the end result. The steering mechanism still works despite the addition of more wheels and a longer hull. Other changes I made was to make seating for 2 additional Space Police troops and a turret with radar dish- badly needed for security. Also the prison cell can be lowered or raised on a lift for easy access/transport. Finally the front cockpit is now covered providing protection for the driver. Enjoy the pictures of this awesome redone classic getting help from Futuron engineers or defending them against aggressive Blacktrons trying to free their captured soldier.
About this creation

A detailed shot showing the "suspension" system for the rear wheels. Not really suspension, but it is reinforced to be stable.

More close up shots of the Futurons helping the Space Police, how could they refuse? lol

Ohhh no! The sinister Blacktrons have ambushed the broke down SPY Trak II! Probably to rescue their captive Blacktron soldier and take advantage of the situation. Can the Space Police defend their position and the fleeing Futuron?

While the Space Police are distracted, the Blacktron risks escaping behind them.

This is right behind the gunnery station and shows off the holding platform.

A group shot.

Here some helpful Futuron engineers help fix a broken tire and confer with the Space Police over recent activity.

Same shot essentially, different angle.

A closer up shot of the Space Police and Futuron allies.

A detailed shot of the rear wheel shocks and locking mechanisms.

The same picture but a different angle.

Here we have Space Police unloading their captured Blacktron.

Similar shot as before.

Now you see the lowered prison cell for easy access.

Another shot showing the turning.

Another rear shot.

Here you can see the radar dish up close and the controls.

An up close shot of the weapon system. It is derived from the Blacktron laser cannon and provides 360 degrees of cover fire. But is only a medium armament.

The very rear shot showing the width of the new body.

Here you get an up-close hot of the rear wheels. Looks beefy right?

A closer shot of a trooper riding shotgun.

A lower ground shot showing the Spy Trak II on patrol.

Note how I extended the front wheel base outward 1 stud and made it sturdier.

The front of the vehicle showing the enclosed cockpit and the wheel up close.

This picture gives you an idea of the size of the new wheel package on the original frame... as well as compared to a minifig. Note the armor covering the wheels.

Quoting Geoffrey Waterman This is a fantastic update! The Spy Trak was probably my favorite classic space set, I try to re-build it every so often just to romp around. Yours looks like it probably does a pretty good job romping as well. Excellent work!
Thank you Geoffrey >_<. Really appreciate the kind comment. Isn't classic space great? Would like to do some more space police mocs when I get a chance.

Quoting Jason B. Hey, this comment is just to make sure you got the stuff OK. You haven't responded on yahoo, and I was getting concerned.
Hey Jason Yeah the figs arrived just fine :). Thanks. Haven't been on yahoo because I have been severely busy with finals. Somehow I found some time to start building that drop ship I told you about. Cheers.

Awesome topic Kyle ! I had two "spy track" when I was a kid, it was such a great set. Your version is excellent, with the 6 wheels it looks even more "Classic". The little story is cool too, it's always a pleasure to see old sets ! Nice work !
