How do you come up with a design of that detail, magnitude and complexity, any time I attempt a model of moderate size and complexity it never works? |

How much does it weigh? 50 lbs? I have a little somthing for you. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/183567
I want you to remake this piece. Then add a front, two sides, and then a back, all in 16x16. (For the sections) Then, curve it to try to make it round. Leave the back square. The whole thing would be 48x48, with the front curved. Can you do it? |

Hi Soren,
Thank you for your praise! I have been collecting and building for about 19 years now. I started back when I was in college and the hobby has grown. Now my two sons are into it as well. It's a lot of fun. As far as instructions, the only models that I made instructions for are my Lego Spiffcraft and Desk Model Fighter. Everything else is rather complicated and would consume way to much of my time to try to recreate directions. None of my creations are glued together, just regular bricks and sturdy building and connections.
--Dan |
|
|
Hey agian Dan. I noticed that your models have a lot of difficult angels and structures to build in the old fashioned way, so it's not to be unpolite but did you use glue to hold those angels or just a lot of brackets and hinges, to keep it studless? Still my favourite lego designer, I just started bying bricks from brickshelf to create my own ultimate construction, it's gonna be a prison carrier:-) |

dear dan. i am absolutely your biggest fan, i like your sci-fi universe and your creativity is unbeliveble. you should be a designer for lego right away. did you make instructions to your creations, if so i would like a copy, by the way, how do you collect all those bricks it can't be from just buying sets, did you buy parts from bricklink, you must have tons of lego worth 1 million dollars:-) |

Ok...When the Med Techs slapped me awake after seeing this I just HAD to comment, something I very rarely every do.
The design is absolutely gorgeous and it just feels like it has more than a home.
I'm part of a gaming community and I would Love to talk to the building about having that ship done in a Computer Rendition for a possible addition to a Online Game.
Either way, keep up the excellent work! |

Hey, I really liked seeing this, it has tons of cool things to look at! Sweet graphic for one, and I like that detail (wheel hub) by the foward ramp too.
Good use of slopes and corner slopes all around. Like by the front edges of the wings. I have to say, neat idea building around those biggie radar dishes on the out sides of the engines!
I like that 2x2 printed tile in the pilot's display. (had to say it) That's a lot of troops. |

Very cool. The overall shape is a simple yet aesthetically pleasing design and yet on closer examination there is still lots of little details. It reminds me a lot of a B 52. In fact, with that much weaponry I'm sure it could be converted into an effective bomber. As just a little practical consideration, though, the troop section looks so narrow that it would take an inordinate amount of time for them all to disembark. It kinda reminds me of an airliner. Still very cool though |
