About this creation
That’s right, folks – Dawn FORGERY. Not to be confused with Dawn Forge, that awesome series of Mechs produced by one of MOCpages own living legends, Brian Kesnecko…Kensteno…Kezn…Ya know, if he’s going to be a living legend, couldn’t he at least have the courtesy to come up with a last name that’s easier to pronounce? One more time here…Kescenovitz! (“Gazundheit!”) Thank you.
Anyway, while Space and Landscape themes are more my thing, I do fancy a good chicken walker every now and again, and nobody does it like Brian. I’ve sung his praises before, but still, I want to say thanks for all the great work, the inspiration, and that amazing swirly thing he does with his…you know, what…let’s leave that one for another time. Moving on…

This was started with the notion of creating a walker similar to my first one, but larger and more complex. What I’ve become painfully aware of now (after months of blood, sweat, tears, and swearing like a sailor), is that taking even a small step forward in complexity and quality, means an infinitely larger amount of energy and time! To put it simply…deciding to build this walker turned out to be the stupidest *! idea since Keith Goldman decided to sing “Touch Me in the Morning” at the Purple Palm keraoke bar. But just like Keith, I saw it through to it’s completion!

I do like the profile on this one. Here you can see how this version is a lot bulkier than my first attempt at a Mech. Early on, I put him on a high protien diet, and started him working out to "Moove Your Boogie Body" jazzercise tapes ...yep, THOSE paid off!

One of the features I like on this Mech is it’s rear defense capabilities. I got this idea from Alex Eylar after his third helping of Chile Con Carne at our last AFOL meeting. (He blasted Shannon Young clean across the room and left a crater the size of a melon in Shannonia!)

Do you suppose it’s true what they say about the size of a Mech’s feet?

I wanted to get in some playability elements this time around, so we’ve got a few movable sections. Here…let me make some cool mechanized whirring sounds for you as the panels open up…WHZZRRRRRRCK…SHKSSSH. Tip #27: Those sound effects really work for the ladies too, if ya know what I mean! (wink, wink...nudge, nudge)

Surface to air missile pods. Also comes with an optional attachment for launching midgets into a low orbit when the need arises.

Some greebly areas. I was thinking about making this guy completely smooth…until Chris Phipson got all excited about the Mech going Brazilian…suddenly I had second thoughts. Tip#13: Whatever Phipson thinks is cool, do the opposite!

Oh yeah, look at them guns…Cannons, Frap Rays, Missile Pods! And just above the front radar is a loud speaker for the use of harsh language if ya get the urge to really emasculate your enemy with insults and smack talk.

And finally, a little walking action for Kescenovitz. I didn’t think, after months of swearing at this, that I could come up with anything new. But trying to pose this Mech in a walking stance was just the catalyst needed to break that plateau and reach a whole new level creative verbal expression!

Well, fellow addicts, that's it for now. Thanks, as always, for stopping by. And if this didn't satisfy your craving for Mech MOCage, allow me to suggest checking out the work of Eric Sophie. I just recently stumbled on to his stuff, and WOW! Meanwhile, stop in next time. If all goes as planned (when does it EVER go as planned?), I'll be gettin' medieval on yo' ass with a Castle MOC.
Later, Kelso

An awesome mech, but it's part of the ever popular so heavily armed and armored that no one would ever think of shooting at the glass cockpit mechs, anyways.. Nice job. |

I just saw the "Eye Of Chaos" today at brickworld Indy, I also liked the gunship for the contest, it was good to see in real life, btw, we're you there, if so, I can't believe I missed you! On the top of the eye of chaos, I saw a mega gun from brick forge, also, the design for the spherical area at the bottom ismind boggling, approximately how many pieces is it? |

VERY nice work! the detailing on this Mech is incredible. there are a few general things I don't like, the most obvious of those being the tiny feet (though they DO have sort of a Dawn Forge look to them...), but it certainly doesn't make this beast of a machine any less incredible. |

Thanks for the comment Mark, I never got a chance to comment on this so here it goes...
I have never gotten the point of the mech world, but I must say that this is the best one I've seen. The detail makes it all, and the walking pictures look very nice. So now you have built comics, that invisible hand flying ship thing, which isn't a hand, nor is it invisible, and now this. Is there anything that you cannot build? |

Well, I have to admit that I saw this MOC at the day you posted it and I was totally speechless, I just hadn´t found the right words to write a comment. Now I found them: A huge masterpiece! You captured the Dawn Forge stile very well (I must know, I´m a fan of that theme since I saw it) and the details are just amazing. My favorite parts are the weapons and the legs, they both turned out perfect and they both have the same stile. I think that makes this mech´s looking so fantastic. It´s made out of such fantastic combinations of great stiles and perfect mech details. |

Epic win! The details on this can fool any Kescenovitz fan! Keep building mecha! PS: Do you like anime? I know the greatest anime ever. It's called Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!!!!! It's a mecha anime that PWNs harder than Gundam, Mazinger Z, Shin Getter, and all others! If you're interested, watch it on MegaVideo.com in Japanese with English subs. (It sounds better that way.) I know, this comment is random, but I highly suggest you watch it. |

I pasted the Mech and it's reflection, then painted in small ripples and the lights on the Mech, and painted a touch of smoke in the foreground. Most of it's straight up pictures with no manipulation. |

Speaking of the main pic, are the damaged vehicles all from one picture, or many different ones? They all look like they have the same amount of focus, thus making it look like one original pic with the mech photoshopped in instead. Behind the mech, though, it looks like there's a hill of waste that's computer generated. Your thoughts, Mark? |

Thanks for the kind words Mark and great job on this badboy. I’ll practice up the swirly thing for Brickworld… |

Hey this is very good! I like those retractable missle thingies at the top (mech tech term, u-don-know-nuttn-bout that), I also like to read your funny writings, because I read, then smile and then look at your pic with said smile. Good deets too, even if you did have to yell at them. I have a challenge for you. On your next attempt, add rotation to the ankles, mid section and to the turrets at the top of the arms/shoulders. Maybe you did in some places. Perhaps I just did not see. Lastly, I think a smoke color window in stead of a clear one might look better, but you may have already considered that or that part didn't get the sailor talk. Good work, keep it up! |

... and now I press F6... (beep beep crunch, beep)... Yep, blue screen of death and an X-rated virus... Perfect!... This walker is excellent (Bill and Ted guitar sound)! It looks like something from the Dawn Forge theme except it could eat every one of them alive. Great greebles and color choice. Once again, amazing MOC. Peace - Patrick |

Quoting Shannon Ocean
My only tiny nitpick is the windscreen (did Chris build that part maybe?)...I'm thinking there's a deeper story to that though....
Nah, as much as I'd like, I can't blame that one on Chris. I'm just fine with the screen itself, although after hours of photographing, I discovered the tiles on top were missing. But I was too busy (or lazy more like!) to go back and re-shoot the whole thing. Someone on Flickr mentioned that he thought it looked "tacked on." *sigh* There's always something. |

I'm with Ocean. The windscreen just doesn't work for the rest of the mech. Besides that, though, this thing is brilliance! Just like the rest of your fan-boys, I am extremely eager for this castle of yours. |

umchigga umchigga umchigga move that boogied bo-sorry, that's really infectious...Nice mech man, there's some nice details and the leg joints are built to look like they pivot and turn which looks very realistic. My only tiny nitpick is the windscreen (did Chris build that part maybe?)...I'm thinking there's a deeper story to that though.... |

Sorry I haven't gotten to commenting on this 'till now...this is truly amazing. You did a wonderful job overall, but I think the size is absolutely awesome. You didn't use the giant pieces, but rather made it look like a three-inch greebly mech while still keeping your reputation for massive MOCs. Now ya gotta make a humanistic mech like Erik Sophie's "Cub"! =) |

You are an intelligent designer, Mark. I mean, the loudspeaker weaponry system is sheer brilliance, man. Nothing sends 'em running to their parents like a bit of smack talk. On another note, I am quite eager for this castle of yours. Don't be too long! |

I could critique certain parts of this, but since I utterly fail at every attempt to build a large mecha of my own, it would seem overly hypocritical of me to do so. I shall therefore fall back on the breathless superlatives tossed about here by all the other fanboys. We are not worthy! |

The missle launchers are great (the opening and closing is a fun feature). I'm not crazy about the shape of the head, it just doesn't quite fit (I think it's that fin on top). But yeah other than that pretty shweet. |

Mark, you did it again! This mech is awesome, it has the very essence of chicken legs lol ^^! i love those rocket pods in the shoulders, they're sneaky, like when your mechs in a hand-to-hand combat, you go like, ahaha hidden rocket pods! KABOM in the enemies face! Great MOC! |
