Domino...
A contemporary street rod.
About this creation

Well, it took a bit of time between the initial design work and the completed car, but I finally finished my street rod...Domino!

After I built the rat rod, I wanted to make something cleaner and sleeker, so I went with a more contemporary take on a classic car.

Design:

I first began with initial side and top/bottom view "grid" drawings. Once I had the basic overall shape defined, I began building in MLCad. I like to think of this car as an evolution of the rat rod as it takes some build cues from it and expands on them.

For this car to have the sleek look I was after, I knew it had to be a hardtop coupe with a concealed engine. I chose to give the car a radical chop. Due to the design of the roof, there really was no room for a rear window. The interior is kept simple, but contemporary with contrasting red and black seats and dashboard. The exterior color scheme is kept simple with only black, white, and some grey...Oh yeah, I just had to add the red brake calipers for fun! Once I chose the black wheels, the name of the car simply dropped itself into place.

You will notice that it has a strong Model Team design influence. This is no coincidence. I have always liked Model Team and I enjoy building my cars in that style. If you look closely, you will see a more modern version of the Model Team style license plate.

I am very happy with the way the car turned out, even better than I expected. I hope everyone agrees:) So enjoy and please comment with your thoughts...

Interior: Coming Soon I'm just waiting on some wedge plates to complete the interior doors:)

Impressive. It's uncommon to see a builder as good for cars as for ships ! Very nice !

Quoting Karlo Toth this hot rod i AMAZING.. i only think that the bigger rear tires would look much better... but in aniway it's GREAT can wait too see new ones ;)
Thanks for commenting! The photos create a bit of an optical illusion. The camera tends to exaggarate the perspective and make the wheels look smaller than they are. This coupled with the tall back and small nose create that effect. But on my next one, I'm going to try some different rear tires...hint-hint:)

Quoting Ape Fight Wonderful model. Nice to see a realistic Rod on MOCpages, a lot of the newer Rods are too customised and don't really look like they're based on a real '30s car. This does, and looks great because of that : ) Maybe it could do with a rear window but other than that this is perfect 5/5
Thanks for the comments! I like to keep my designs simple and clean. Sometimes it is the simple solutions which work best! As for the rear window; the radical chop on the roof negated the possibility of a window. But I will try to incorporate it in my next rod...

Nice job! I really like white cars. There's only two things I can criticize: no back window, and the rear tires seem a little too wide. Other than these, this is an incredible build! Check out my rods and see what you think.
