This is the home of Hans Von Bergen. He was the son of a wealthy nobleman. Upon his father's death, he inherited the estate with its massive holdings. Sickened by court life, he sold the majority of his holdings and moved into the old hunting lodge. He lives the life of a recluse, wandering throughout the ancient forest. He also spends considerable time in his attic workshop, as he is an inventor of sorts. His inventions tend toward labor saving devices, which he builds for the local peasants. He keeps none of them for himself. Hans prefers a simple life, unencumbered with luxury. He has numerous pets, including, among others, a kitten named Numa, a hawk named Raspberry, and a large monkey named Uncle Cecil. He also has a horse, the foal of his father's charger. Its name is Fido, however, Hans rarely calls it by name. What he usually calls Fido does not bear repeating. Fido is rather high spirited, due to his ancestery, and has caused many "inconveinences" on the highway. Hans mostly walks now when he travels and Fido carries a pack.
