a working lee enfield bolt action sniper rifle with detachable sniper scope and bi-pod, fed from 8 brick magazines
About this creation
This is by far the best rifle I have ever made. It is a working magazine-fed rifle in bolt-action configuration, with detachable magazines, sniper scope and bi-pod

You can see a video here that explains all of what I'm about to say

'Bolt action' means that every time you want to load a round, you flick the bolt lever up, pull it backwards, push it forwards again and flip it down. By doing this you will extract a 1x4 brick from the magazine, pull back the 'hammer' (rubber band), insert the brick into the chamber and hook the rubber band onto the back of it.

Bolt-action rifles were one of the first types of repeating rifle, along with the pump-action and lever-action. They were used in WWI and WWII, as they are reliable and easy to use.

This rifle has a sniper scope, bi-pod stand and 2 8-round magazines. The stand is collapsible and detachable and clips onto the front of the barrel. When it collapses the legs are parallel with the barrel.
The sniper scope looks authentic, but when you aim with it you actually look through a small hole underneath the scope, as I couldn't make the actual scope hollow.

The mechanism is a pretty simple one, and because of this hardly ever jams.

Fantastic job! This is by far the best rifle I have seen on here. I like all the different design features you incorporated. Great work once again. For all of you people asking for "instrukshunz plz!", maybe you should learn to read and try building it yourself. He has said numerous times he doesn't have the time to make any, and he doesn't even have the gun. You trying to recreate his gun is not fun, and isn't what LEGO is about. Try building one on your own and use his as a REFERENCE.

Very impressive. Might I make a suggestion: I noticed that in order to load the "bullets" you have to flip them in order to keep them from sticking, which is clever. Perhaps an improvement would be to place the following piece on top of your "bullets": "Flat tile 1x4" http://cache.lego.com/flash/factory/imageViewer.swf?s_path=http://cache.lego.com/images/factory/pab/brickSpins/&s_imageSet=243121_&i_numImages=8 http://cache.lego.com/images/factory/pab/bricks/243121_8.jpg This smooth top should prevent any sticking of bullets and may even improve range, due to reduced friction. It does not make the brick significantly taller but will increase the size a tiny bit.

@stephen syrotiak Not if it's a No. 4 Mk I (T) or the 7.62 NATO derivative, the L42A1. Centerline scope that interferes with loading from stippers on the top. True, the scope mounts from the left side, but it's centered.

Boy jack..you always give it your all. This is a great bolt action magazine fed sniper rifle... I have tried forever to make something somewhat as good as this, but I always failed...I can never seem to piece it together myself...im better with rbgs...but brick shooters are the challenge....also, I've been trying to make a scope as cool as yours....I have a question, is the scope see through where you can actually see out it? Please comment back and tell me. Also, once again, the mechanism is genius, I just cannot figure the workings of building it. Well, keep on up to your superior skills, and happy building. -Tommy

Quoting Simron B how wide is it
mostly 5M, with the occasional pair of .5M supporting struts on each side, making it 6M. the stock is 3M, and the bolt also makes the gun a bit wider. and kill dew, i havent a clue. anyway, lego prices vary a lot, depending on where you buy it

One more question. When you pull the bolt back, something (i don't know the name) pushes a round out of the magazine farther inside the gun. But you when the bolt is pulled back to the limiet, the round just moves up??? How does that work??
 I made it
  March 10, 2009
sorry jasper, i broke it like a month ago... but u can see the trigger mech - on the last mech pic there is a brown L-shaped piece. when the trigger is pulled, this piece is rotated anti-clockwise, and the longer end pulls a protruding piece out of the way of the bullet in the barrel, and the gun shoots - simple!

I have to say. MOCPAGES takes gun building to a higher level than youtube. But, dude this gun so good that I woudln't even uploaded here and just show only on contests. IT IS AMAZING!!!!! Quoting Austen Cordero one more question: where did you get all those technic pieces?
well iv been building with lego since i was about 3 and now im 14, so thats 11 years of building/buying lego. and in response to your other Q, its actually 5 studs wide so the band does have enough room

i am not lying when i say you are the best lego gun builder on mocpages. Right everybody? Just how did you manage to fit the whole mechanism in 4 studs wide even with a rubberband hitting the bullets? Doesnt the rubberband need room to fire? this was the only part about the gun i could not understand
  February 9, 2009
This is why you are one of my favorite builders. I love it! The complexity of the mechanism, all operated with one swift motion. Simply amazing. And it looks real too! Is it accurate? How far does is shoot? It would be appreciated and an honor if I had the instructions to the mechanism not the whole gun just the mechanism. If you want to and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't could you send them to me at gillight@lorettotel.net? Please?

but you could make instruction of the mechanism and the bolt with lego digital designer it would be easy and every one would be happy cause we could make a m16 with that mechanism.

sorry guys, its too complicated for instructions and uses 95% of my useful black pieces, so im not selling it - and postage from the UK would be huge, and then theres customs...

Really nice gun, but it seems to use the same mechanism as the bullpup. Would you create a break down or some instructions for the mechanism?

What I think is that you should be lucky you can make stuff like that... Believe it or not, I see how that works. it's exactly the same as your crossbow except the cambering mech is slightly different.
