Legoland
Legoland - The massive town childhood collection of my brother and me.
About this creation
"Legoland" - This huge city began about 20 years ago with our first lego sets. As Legoland grew we soon began to build our town on two small sheets of plywood - our respective "blocks" of the city. Then Legoland became paved with street base plates, and over time Legoland grew into the city with the layout seen here.

My brother and I set up Legoland almost every weekend of our childhood lives.

Some noteworthy features of Legoland include the large airport. The new terminal and large jet were recent additions, and never part of the original Lego town. You may also notice the large 7 story "Henry P. Jones" building, with Legoland's own tycoon, Henry P. Jones seated in the top office. Legoland also had a stellar police force, who weathered many natural disasters as well as frequent crime and criminals determined to overthrow the police headquarters and let all their inmate buddies out of prison.

For about the last 10 years lego land has sat in boxes in storage, separated by hundreds of miles as both my brother and I attended college, got married, had kids, etc. But Legoland was never forgotten. Frequently I bugged my brother that we should bring all our lego together again and set it up exactly as it was when we were kids. So we did. It was quite the moment of nostalgia to see it all again, and we took many pictures.

From the overhead shot, my part of Legoland included the right side - the airport and all the buildings on the right side of the road, and my brother used the buildings on the left side.

Dude, actually, he convinced our parents that Lego is "educational." You might try that angle.

Hello Chris, I just wrote the same comment to your brotherīs posting, but since itīs both of yours, Iīll post it here, too:): this is so great. It makes me think of my childhood in the 80s and early 90s and some earlier layouts I made. I also played and often built for my younger brother - we were Lego buddies until he stopped playing when he became a teenager. I never stopped... :) And because it was always so much fun to play with, about every town of mine had a car repair shop and/or a scrapyard:) And trains, of course. Anyways, I love childhood memories like yours and have as well posted two earlier layouts. I think you might like them, too. Best regards from Germany, Steffen

When Chris says he "frequently" asked me to put Legoland back together, he really means every time we spoke. I'm thankful though, because he got me back into Legos after almost a decade furlough. Nice job with the town, bro. Very cool.

The real fun is when the wife tells you she needs to vaccuum. Mine would just go right over the lego without a second thought. Hope yours is more sympathetic. ~ Chris.

And while my first comment gets moderated (only the almighty knows why), enjoy this bland humorless one... nice work. ~ Chris.
