The Polar Express Mark II
My upgraded version of The Polar Express train from the movie of the same name.
About this creation
Just about three years ago I built my first version of The Polar Express. Since then I've added detail here and there, endlessly tweaking the design. I finally sat down and took some pictures of her, and I think she looks much better than before.

The locomotive is based off of the real Pere Marquette #1225 Berkshire class steam engine, the same locomotive the movie makers used as the basis for the locomotive in the film. The cars are based off of the cars in the film, and yes, I chose green on purpose, no comments on that.

The whole train measures nearly 6 feet long. Any longer and she'd no longer fit on any one of my tables.

Most of the changes to the design are on the locomotive - swapped out plates for tiles, added hoses, different roof on the cab. The pistons have been redesigned to be half SNOT, even though it's hard to tell just by looking.

The tender also got a face lift, lots of tiles instead of plates, and extra 4 studs in length, and a new coal bunker access area.

This is the dining car. All of the cars got an upgrade, the dining and passenger cars got an extra set of doors to make them better match the movie.

The passenger car as well as the other two also got an undercarriage makeover, giving them steps attached to the bogies and misc. "stuff" attached between.

The observation car didn't get an extra door, but it did get an extra window and one extra stud in length (total 5 studs) to better match the other two cars.

I added the ghost and his fire on the roof of the observation car.

I also built a few of the crew members of the PolEx, Left to Right: Ghost of the PolEx (top), Fireman, Engineer, Conductor, Santa Claus.

Hey. That was so awesome! I just watched the movie, and I thought about a LEGO version and about how awesome it would be. I was wondering if you could maybe get me some building instructions for this awesome train.
