Sorry I had to delete the page for a day while I worked on getting better pics and then tecnical difficulties with the computer. But all is figured out now.
So here it is My first work with LEGO/Clay/Plastic/paper/paint.
I started with a simple round piece (as seen on the right)
Molded clay around the LEGO piece. Then Using spru, I melted the ends to a slightly round shape to make eyes. Molded more clay, added anteni using the same method. Sanded his head to shape. Then to make ears I cut out of thick wax paper two ears of the same shape, Added the notches, molded clay along the upper edges and glued to the sides of his head.
I then used a sealent to fill in the small cracks/lines from sanding and also to streangthen the head. Now he is ready to be cast in silicon.
Gran face from the front.
From the side.
The plan is to cast in silicon and make a mold. If it turns out good enough I would like to start selling custom heads.
Well thats it my first work in clay. I'm not sure which alien to make next. any ideas are welcome.
Not bad- sculpted heads are almost impossible to customize so you did quite great job- yellow is not best color though- lego should make official Grans as Well as Aqualish, and Quarren minifigs those would be great pieces- i have two rodians- their heads are one of the best lego parts ever created- i would like to see that head with body though keep it up.
