Master Chief Concept v2 with articulated head, because there's not NEARLY enough Halo on MOCpages.
About this creation
While polishing up my next full-size MOC (which should be up within the week), I had an idea. I've seen lots of MC's with the new "Mars Mission" gold visors, but in case no one noticed the chief's face plate is on the inside of the helmet. So I stuck it in there and came up with a way to mount it that also gives the head some articulation for more dynamic posing. Obviously this technique can be used with any standard helmet/visor combo and is not limited to making...another...Master...Chief.
O.K...enough Halo for now...I promise. ;-) Thanks for looking.
Everything else here is the same as version 1. Yeah, I know, use black hips, get some decals, blah blah blah.
Pretty simple. A 1x1 round plate on the neck stud and a visor stuck inside a helmet. The outer diameter of the 1x1 round plate matches the inner diameter of visor in the helmet and holds the head in place. Just give the visor a squeeze and it should slide into the helmet without too much trouble. Just don't squeeze too hard and break it. It didn't happen to me, but I know if it happens to you I will hear about it. The visor works just fine when you take it out as well.
Peas, tomatos, and one fried egg? I better have a chat with the Admiral.
"Hmm. That looks just...about...perfect."
I made this quick vig to demonstrate that if done properly the helmet stays on the torso and is not just sitting loose on the neck stud. BTW, thats a Covenant carbine laying in the weeds, not a couple of eggplants.
"Uhh...Bob? I'm gonna need that back."

Love the design, its simple and innovative, but it's not easy. I have yet to successfully get the visor inside, the backmost part of the visor clicks up into the helmet and a I have to pry it out, because the fornt will never go in and there wil be a gap that appears in the hole at the front of the helmet.I counted, and tried 13 times to properly insert the visor, then decided to stop before "the bullet hit the bone." |

Genius MC! The visor inside gives so much flexibility to the head, making it much more realistic too. Much better than SS in my oppinion even without decals. |
|
|
Amasing. For all of you who cant do it, you have to inseart the back first, then pust up the front til its in, then if its not fully in, push the front from the helmet opening with a rod whilst pushing up until you hear a click. That is either the visor clicking into place, or your helmet snapping :) |

i've got a small question. i made the fig and it is without a doubt the best MC. but hot do you make the helmet stick to the stud? they don't touch. i put 2 in and they just fit. and also in the picture where hes got his head tilted, is the the helm just sitting on the body or is it stuck? thanks |

Sweet! not only is this really sturdy, but it looks awesome and you can take the visor out and it works just like normal! the only problem is you kinda gotta just cut off the sides of the visor like 1/4 of a centameter..(otherwise its really hard to put in) other than that its perfect! great job! (im not going to call you brian cuz im only 12 lol... |

even if bob ran away hed be safe because those monkies stole his gun and also should 2 mongooses be called mongeese and if the warthog is shortened to the hog should a mongoose be called a goose |

It's really, really good. However, I just have a question, Brian. Is it easy to take off the visor from the helmet? I want to use your method for my Manian Republic Space Command (MRSC) Special Air Service (SAS) soldier and I will give you credit, of course. |

Nice! For full articulation, you can use a round hemisphere (the kind you get from the lego star wars flick missiles) I discovered this a couple years back when I put a random pieces on my gray jedi master with clone commando armor. |

The reason I don't keep the visor inside the helmet is because I think it makes his head look too small, and I can't seem to shake the impression that he's a faceless guy with trans-yellow, or in this case gold skin. But to each his own, and I have to hand it to you, this is pretty darn neat. My favorite part, however, was the eggplants. Who knew the Chief liked eggplants? |

Its amazing the coincidences that seem to occur with the experimentation of lego parts. It always seems to fit somehow...Anyway, this design is consistent with your other design in the way that it seems fragile but looks awesome! You never seem to run out of ways to push the envelope! One again, Great job. P.S. I cant believe you didnt snap that little visor! lol |
