Phoenix Solitaire CX-55 LeMans Style Racer . This is my Solitaire CX-55. . One of my personal favorites, the Solitaire. It is a single seater, closed cockpit racecar. It is designed after the closed cockpit racecars of the LeMans race series. The inspiration for this design started when I got the crane set (7632) and saw the window for it. I was thinking how this would be cool on a car single seater racecar. So I started with the frame, and in combined time to build this car, it only took about 8 hours. It has a PD V12 turbocharged engine. In the engine compartment it has a radiator, air cleaner, oil cap, battaery, turbocharger, and the molded roof scoop intake. In the interior, it has tilting steering wheel, for ease of enry/exit, racing pedals, E-Brake, shifter, black racing seat, and gauges mounted to the front of the windshield. Moving to the exterior, the front was one of the hardest parts to create. The first version of it was extremely fragile, and would break if it touched anything, so I added some structure to the inside. It has an open front air dam, that gives the car an image, as if it were smiling. On the front hood, air intakes that give it a muscled up appearance. The side intakes are my favorite innovations on this car. I have used angle pieces, and it leaves a realistically open gap, as well as rear mounted intake for the brakes, which would normally recieve extremely high usage, with very high temperatures. The rear bumper is styled a large bit like a Lamborghini Murcielago's rear intakes. All of these intakes are open, as to add to realism. This car started out without a spoiler, but I knew it had to have one, so the first one was a smaller lip spoiler. Thn it graduated to the current one, which is taller, to aid in downforce. A third brakelight has been added to the rear hood. On the roof, there is a large open, functional roof scoop. Both the windshield and rear hood lift up.
