Batcave: New Lower Level (WIP) . Expanded batcave with new underground river and waterfall. . Between rounds of the MocOlympics, I thought I'd throw up some pictures of my summer project. I ran out of room in the old batcave, so a new lower level had to be built. I haven't added all the details, but the basic structure is all set. Obviously, the upper level needed some structural enhancements to elevated. This was a little hard to do without breaking everything that was on each section, but it did give me a good excuse to dust those parts. The new lower level is built around a waterfall on the left side and an underground river that travels through it. The base slopes downward from 5 bricks high at the left to 2 high at the right edge. The river is sunk below grade a little more than 2 bricks deep the whole length with tan bricks. The bottom of the river is blue tiles. I then filled the river bed with translucent pieces, and also used the translucent 1x2 plate for the waterfall. I'm probably going to keep the floor of the cave with exposed studs, it does have some nice contours as it progresses downhill, though they're hard to see in the pictures. Please feel free to suggest things that you think I should include! So this is the new layout of the cave. I haven't had the courage to put Wayne Manor on top yet, but maybe soon I'll try it. It was hard to get good pictures of the whole thing, but this was the best I could do. A few shots of the waterfall. I've seen a lot of them on MOC pages, but I think mine is very unique. The pool at the base is 5 bricks deep and there are some cool splash effects, but they might be hard to see. Here's a look at the technique I used for the river. (and the batboat harness above) This is the working elevator that carries passengers between the two batcave levels. Here's a little three station computer for the lower level. I ran out of black pieces, so a made a watertower machine to take the place of one of the columns. Here's some pics of the Frank Miller DKR batmobile and the arms that work on it. The batboat is in a harness that can raise it from the far end of the river. I'm probably going to make the river mouth a little wider. Here's the batplane/batwing in it's new cradle. Lots of great greebling robot arms to work on it! I hope you enjoy this work in progress. Again, please feel free to make suggestions of what I can improve or things that could be added (you may want to check out other posts of the upper level first though)
