AirWing Katana . Articulated Robotic Tactical Combat System. A modular mecha operated by a nueral trace system. This set includes the AirWing flight pack. . The Katana Series ARTCS are powered by a Crystallic Resonance Powercell, that uses two syncronised crystals that resonate when an electric current is passed through them, generating more energy than what was passed through initially, in effect, perpetuality. But there is one serious drawback to the resonant powercells. If the crystals are damaged while a current is passing through them, they will shatter and implode, releasing a tremendous blast as a result. Seen here, the Airwing is preparing to take off. In addition to the dual main engines, each main wing features three smaller thruster engines for increased speed, lift and manueverability. For taking off, even the jump jets built into the feet, legs and back are ignited. The Airwing is used solely for atmosphere travel and can not operate in space. The wings and engines spread into flight position. The engines' postion were carefully calculated to provide thrust evenly against the Katana's center of gravity when modified to use the Airwing Pack. Choice of elbow Hardpoint equipment is optional. As always, beamsabres are mounted in the elbow joints. The Airwing engines are hydrolic piveted, and can move position to aid in manuevering, making the Airwing Mod very agile in the air, though on the ground, it does slow it down some, due to the weight. Each Katana comes stock with six major modular hardpoints, one on each elbow, one on each shoulder, and one on either side of the pack, as well as numerous smaller hardpoints on the limbs and torso. Seen here is the dismantled Airwing Pack, which consists of four interlocking pieces that fit together to form the Airwing, which take up the shoulder and back major hardpoints. The back with the wings and engines closed down across the back. While agile in the air, the weight of the engines and the wings slows operation on the ground, making it move uneasily when compared to being equipped for ground combat. However, when on the ground, the pilot's nueral trace system can use the wings and engines for balance and counter balance, adding to the overall stability in use.
