My first project with the NXT (old one). I was always annoyed when anyone has a "Domino Day" and all the colours where mixed, so I made this sorter. The principle is very easy: You have an undercarriage with a turntable and upon it is the mechanism. Step 1: If you run the programm, you first have to push on the push-sensor. Step 2: The first motor will then pull one domino out of the storage and under the light-sensor. Step 3: The light-sensor measures the reflected light and so gets to know which colour it is. Step 4: The second motor turns the whole upper part till the right position, which has been determined by the light-sensor. Step 5: Then, the third motor turns the plate under the light sensor and the domino falls down. Step 6: At last the whole thing goes back to its start position and starts again with the first step. And these are some side- and upviews: Now I will never have to sort domino's by colour!
