Steyr AUG (working) . working Steyr AUG (German equivalent of Universal Army Rifle). bullpup, with removable mags. . since making my 416CQB, ive tried to make several guns, all of which have failed. these were a brickshooting UZI (magazine didnt work, but i have high hopes for a new design that ive just thought up), and a Benelli M3 Pump shotgun - it seems my open bolt mech wont fit into a shotgun like the closed bolt one did. after those failures, i decided to go back to the tried-and-tested assault rifle, this time a Steyr AUG - i hadnt yet built a bullpup with my open bolt mech, and so it was time to try it out. VIDEO i will point out though, that while this gun is one of the easiest to use, pretty powerful and reliable, the mech inside is very hard to get to, and the aesthetics arent great. i spent ages field stripping and re-assembling the gun while i built it, whereas normally a field strip is very quick and easy on my guns, and i ran out of black 1-by-X flats so the gun doesnt have the sideways bulge near the top like the real one. enough of the bad stuff. this gun has: -two 10-brick magazines (black bricks again, courtesy of my DEagle) -solid 1D trigger (instead of lever (like real thing)) -bullpup layout -interchangeable telescopic sight/RIS+reflex -very easy to use side-mounted cocking handle (these are difficult to make) -ok-ish looks - im still not entirely pleased with this gun, but im putting it up anyway the mech is my normal open bolt mech, but as the gun is a bullpup, i had to revert to some beams going round the mag to get to the firing mech, but i disguised them by making them out of flats instead of liftarms, so its ok. pics: the gun, left side right side mag removed the two 10-brick magazines same old open bolt feed mech reciever: pistol grip, with enlarged trigger guard for use with thick gloves, verti-grip, cocking handle, and telescopic sight stock and mag. the real one pivots UP and away from the mag, so it took ages to get the mech just right with RIS, no accessory with RIS and reflex sight no sight setup at all - useless. all the accessories - telescopic sight, RIS, reflex sight, one of the mags the reflex sight telescopic sight RIS view through telescopic - the white diamonds on the sides are reflections of the middle one on the walls - its a bit disconcerting... view through reflex backup iron sights on the telescopic field strip mech cocking handle (and hammer) pulled back handle forward, hammer back - ready to fire and one last look at the AUG thats it - tell me what you think!
